10,750 (list for a 1200GS-A) give or take, that's stock on the road. By the time you've added the extras to take it to the same spec as the Super Ten, you are looking at around 12,750.
And, it's 10Kg lighter! and, as it's a boxer, so the COG (certainly in the motor) is going to be lower than the SuperTen too.... The pics on ADVThingy are much better than the Yamaha ones, they need to sack off their art department, remember the 660 Ten picture when they came out, they were crap too. |

Put a realistic price tag of around 8500 then the average person might start showing interest.
But considering the new xt660z now retails at over 6000 we aint got no hope. Like most companys nowadays...the Japs seem to be pushing the self destruct button. Its a funny old world. |
Price wise they are going to struggle and its difficult to see the 2nd hand values remaining as stiff as bmu's (though probably only if buying from offical stealers) ..
I reckon there may be some 2nd year bargins, though if its too stiff to buy new, the market may be starved of supply especially if its supply to order only with no stock is on dealer floors. Shame yamaha are having to push prices up to recover losses, it may back fire on them especially as it making BMU look affordable :Knitting_22PFUP: |

The Japanese bikes are expensive, but that's not because of greed it's because of the market and yen etc. |

However, you may find there are only limited numbers available initially anyway? (like the XTZ in 2008 - only 150 allocated to the UK!) I can just see the road test reports now - when you can get a stock Ducati Multistrada for 11,000 (150bhp!) and a GSA for similar money (never mind the odd-ball MotoGuzzi's etc) this bike does look really expensive... Hey ho. J xx |
And heavy to - 575lbs. - thats 41 stone (UK) - the weight of 2 fat blokes!!!

XT660Z is doing all I need it to*. That's like twice the price!!!

I think the prohibitive costs of Jap bikes these days will bring about a total shift in sales over the next 2-3 years. The european manufacturers must be doing cartwheels with glee at Yamaha's pricing policy, as they have effectively priced it and all the other models in the range out of the competition. The big Yam is a big dissapointment in my humble opinion- just another overweight, cluttered up land crab with no really outstanding or indeed useful improvements. A bit of a biking equivalent of the Chelsea Tractors that clutter up our city centres I'm afraid. |
