No, I'm just so dissappointed that they went for the lard assed pack mule segment instead of making a serious bike that could compete with the 990 adventure for example. I know that there is a market but I don't care, I want the Tener brand to stand for something. Now it's just a Varadero with cool stripes nothing more. Depressing. |

For the same money....
you could have a brand new XL1000 Varadero (I've had two of these and they can scratch well and cover miles like you wouldn't belive)
On The Road Price (without discount) 8471, Throw in a second hand XT660Z Tenere at around 4500, and you still have enough change to pay for a couple of weeks touring around Europe! :love9:

Bought a Tiger 1050 and XTZ Tenere for less than the price of a 1200GSA. IMO The Tenere is better than the GSA off road and the Tiger is better on. Pay double road tax ,slightly more insurance but other costs are more or less the same as I do the same mileage and can only ride one at a time:smilielol: |
Forgive a post from a newbie.
I am highly pleased to see the new bike is made in Japan so the quality issues that some present day XT660 owners will be addressed. I like the looks of the bike, taste is personal but I write this in sincerity that there are some replies here that rather read as 'sour grapes'? No one has even rode the bike yet and the comments are all based on pictures? Now. For my small part and going only on the pictures I can't for the life of me identify the new bike as a Tenere? Take myself for an example, I have dropped her 3 or 4 times and only had to replace the brake lever. Can you imagine dropping the new bike, oh dear Lord it would cost a bloomin fortune in parts. I THOUGHT the idea of a Tenere was to produce the equivalent of a 4X4 car? To this end it has to be practical, robust, in fact prepared to do the work of a 4X4? With great respect for Yamaha I can't see this idea put into action on PICTURES of the new bike. Only time and customer comments will tell. Going to be an expensive trial and error though. Those beautiful side plastics and fan, well, lets see. Ryland |

Odd combination and mixture. Perhaps, then what do I know? NADA. Lol Ryland |

It'll be a lot less practical as an off-road bike than the 660, although it will be possible to ride it off-road and a minority will do so. In other words, it's a Yamaha GS Adventure. I wouldn't change from the 660 to the 1200, but I'm sure some will, and plenty will buy it who might otherwise have bought the BMW. |
