interesting topic this, as since getting the Ten I have suspected the air through the yokes has been a major factor in the turbulance.
My rough idea (although not completely thought through yet) is to use neoprene like a wet suit stretched to form the aperture and secured in some fashion to the bike , with slots for the fork legs to rotate:118:.

just a note:

I had a Arai Tour X2.
Following a fall, I changed it for a Tour X3, and most of the turbulences on my VFR have disapeared. (I had a MRA touring screen on the VFR)

I've read here and there that there is a noticeable difference between the 2 helmets due to a revised peak.

I suffer from no turbulence on the Tenere with my Tour X3, I'm 6'2.

In case it isn't picked up here, there was a bit of interesting info in another "General Discussion" thread about the purpose of the 'beak' on a BMW GS. While most said it's more for cosmetic reason, one said it actually helped on the airflow on the front to direct to the radiator. Then I thought, for those who experience turbulence etc. on the Tenere, would it help by having a high front fender that wouldn't block the airflow to the radiator? Just a thought.

the Final Fix: the WindCOMB!!!

Gentlemen,

I'm proud to present to you the final fix for the turbulence-problem: the amazing WindCOMB!!!!!

I took a piece of birdcomb:

which is meant to be used underneath a roofing to prevent birds to build their nest underneath...

... cut two pieces at a certain length... and sticked these against the tank around the front fork like this:

Then I went for a testride..... hmmm. I could notice a difference but not that much.

Then I moved the comb to the top of the 'tunnel':

.... THAT DOES THE TRICK!

Can't get it any better! Not with this fairing and windshield! The gust from beneath is gone! No more buffeting to the chest or underneath the chin of your helmet. If you put your hand above the WindCOMB, you'll still notice some airflow, but not even half as much as it used to be.

The bawling/roaring is gone!!

Its Amazing!

You can order directly at any D.I.Y.Shop!!

Nice one!

That's along the lines of what I was going to try (if I ever get my Tenere back). The solution seems to be to modify the wind flow through the "tunnels" rather than block it.

Seems like an excellent diy mod! :rockwoot:

Dare I ask what you stuck the comb on with as it's obviosly removable?

Looks like I might be making a quick stop at a local diy superstore on may way home today to see if this really does work.

double sided tape....

.... not sure it will hold at top speed though... maybe need some tougher glue to keep it at place.

Where to buy in the UK? Click => Bird-comb then go for 'Nearest stockist'

Tooth length is 55mm

this is what we sell at builders merchants. called bird comb and is designed to stop birds(feathered ones) getting under your tiles on your house roof.

This has been by 'HOLY GRAIL' since riding this bike and i've finally sorted it.
With my new high powerbronze screen and also used a piece of pre-formed angle plastic . in this case a short piece of a 'felt eave support tray' available from your builders or roof merchant and in this case i chopped and carved up a UBBINK one due to the grey matching other pieces on the bike. drilled 2 holes and fitted to crossbrace.

did 90mph on first test ride and not a head wobble or double vision at all at all. !!!!!

YIPPEE at last i can go to the Alps in comfort.
