I agree with the comments regards the Tour-X it is really bad so I have gone back to using a normal Full Face helmet which is much better.

Spot on Zou
The tenere is unrideable with my Arai Tour X, with a normal full face road helmet no problem. There is a lot of wind being forced upwards through the gap between the bars and tank; I think this is catching the peak on my tour x and causing it to oscillate so much it makes me dizzy....dangerous.
I'm planning to try blocking the hole with an old sweater to see if it makes a difference....will report back on this soon :sbike:

Out tonight on the Ten and used a sweater to block the gap between the handlebars and the forks. It works!!!! No wind being forced up through the gap and no turbulence. Put the sweater in the topbox and turbulence back again. Using my hand to increase temporarily increase the height of the screen made no difference so the mod talked about by NickW may well be the best solution here and I may also try the weight on the peak of my Tour X. The strange thing was, on the way home for a short period, the turbulence dissapeared for a while......not sure why but it did return later!!!
Standing up on the foot pegs at 70mph, in the full blast of the wind there is no turbulence and no noise...perfect!! but impossible and dangerous to ride like that.

Hi i'm a nubie to riding really.. so excuse my ignorance.. :101: I think turbulance is a hard thing to understand.. I hired a bandit for a weekend and rode with my tour-x(which seems very noisey over about 60-70MPH). The strange thing was that even with my chin down and forehead forward my helmet seemed to want to lift off my head. some how the screen on the bandit must have created a low pressure system over my head... hmm not sure about that!? i'm very interested in this idea though as i had wondered if air was being chanelled through the fork gap on my tenere..and/or the angle of the peak.. I'm going to follow this topic closely...

Hey Gory, I think what you experienced was quite different to the turbulence on the Tenere. The bandit will have flowed the air below your helmet so the sensation you had was the wind getting under your peak and trying to pull the helmet up.

the air flow over your head is faster than below.
The result is a preasure difference.
Thats the same a wing of an airplane works.
But you are not fast enough ;)

OK, here's the dimensions I used for the Windstopper.

I currently have slots in mine to let a little air though, but I think the holes will work better.

Hope it helps:

Does this stop the flies getting blasted up into yer lid, yesterday was like a bug party and all their fly friends were invited.

Funny, when I had my loan Fazer when having my 12k mile service I seemed to get more bugs on my visor in one day than I seem to get in the last 6 months. Fazer screen gives nice and smooth air flow ... straight into your face. Tenere is more turbulent but at least blows the bugs to the top of your visor (I'm 6' 0").

It does get covered in bugs so might stop a few ending up in your lid, but I guess most of them will be coming over/around the screen.....

Looked at my mates Honda Dominator 650 89-model on Saturday and it had a turbulence stopper in the fork gap. Came as a standard fitment so is probably there for a reason. I think Yamaha should have a look at it and put it as standard on all Tenere's.
