Dear sir / madam

I am possibly not contacting the right branch of yamaha but perhaps you
could pass on my message to the relevant person.

I have recently purchased a new Tenere and am very happy with the bike,
there is one very big problem that has become
apparent on not only my own but other members of the group XT660.com.

When the tenere reaches 60 MPH the turbulence coming up from the front
forks and into the tank and dash area causes a big problem
it shakes your head most uncomfortably. some of the guys have resorted to
using Bird comb in the tunnel to stop this. Perhaps Yamaha
should take a look at this issue to make a great bike a lot better.

Thanks and regards

i can truely say i nealy did the bird comb trick but went for the option i posted earlier which was far easier and doesnt alter the bike paint in any way.

this totally re-directs the wind onto your chest.

i was over the moon when fitted this and worked.
i do hope others try and have same success
will try with a std screen in next few days .

The idea is good... but...

it might interfere with a tankbag or roadbookholder...

I'll stick to the magic WindCOMB™

I can also confirm that the WindCOMB thing works fine.
The only modification to SingleMindded’s installation is that I used the Dual Lock tape from 3M , in order to stick the WindCOMB to the tank.
You can find the hole story here (mid of the page) : http://www.moto.gr/forums/showthread...&pagenumber=41

Its in Greek, but the pics speak for them selves.

@SingleMindded..... thank you very much for the idea man .......

I have to tell you that when my givi sat nav bag is fitted to the handlebar crossbar I get much less buffeting. Hardly noticable and not worth complaining about. I think I will leave it fitted full time. I am also using a Tour X3 Arai and its fine.

sore head

hello folks,
First time with tenere and single come from vfr 800 fi.
Travelling 600 miles every weekend from liverpool as working down in feilixstowe. turblance seems to be worse on dual carraigeways A14 than M6 must be due to airflow across wider areas. will be trying bent fibreglass on crossbar as spending weekend with sore head. good for cruising up to 80mph, (numbness occurs at speeds above this) and throwing round bends, but tyres need to be warm, bit hard for my liking.

hi aidan
i was gettinng same troubles and since fitted the powerbronze screen and the piece of plastic on crossbar - now nothing of any concern.
still not tried the std screen back on tho yet.
happy motoring

sore head sorted a bit

well i added a piece of perspex to the crossbar on the bike and it made such a good difference. it has stopped the wind hitting me on the throat and chin of the helmet. i will probably tell better on the way home friday as the roads are busier and more turblance. this was a quick botch job nothing fancy. have got photos but can't find how to put them on?? can anyone help please?
need bigger screen now as top of helmet getting battered. fancy an mra but they don't do them yet.

tenyamman 15-07-09 21:25

as other people have suggested on here i went with the powerbronze screen that i believe is also the same as a metal mule screen and seems to work fine together.
if anyone would like a piece of this shaped plastic i used give us a shout or email and i can mail out in a weeks time or so as going to the french alps to watch some of the tour de france.
