Dunlop Mutant: simply the best!

I have been using Dunlop Mutant for about 5,000Km now on my 2005 XT660X. I use the m'bike every day for commuting to work. tires are fantastic, great grip on tarmac and potholes in Rome's streets as well as on "sampietrini" i.e. slippery squared stones used to pave the streets by ancient romans which are still in place in Rome. when it is raining those roads become slippery like a glass covered with soapy water but the Mutants make the magic and you feel safe when breaking even at 50-60Km hour speed.

I will definitely buy another pair of Mutant in future.

cheers,

Davide (XT660XRoma)

I keep to the tarmac roads at present untill I have more experience. Is it true that one needs to adjust the tyre pressure for on and off riding conditions? If this is so could you inform me of the pressure for both styles please.

Thank you for your help.

Hi I have done 1600 miles on the standard Metzler tourance tires on my tenere. My verdict very good on tarmac wet or dry, off road ok on gravel hardpacked trails (IF ITS DRY). On wet grass or mud awful no grip whatsoever!! the new Metzler karroo3 look very interesting has anybody tried these tires yet?

Anybody tried the Metzler Karroo 3 they look very appealing to me?

Had one on the rear of my Tenere when I bought it - swiftly consigned to the tip and replaced with Mitas E07. If I wanted an off road tyre I'd probably go for Mitas E09 - not a fan of Metzler tyres.

What was wrong with the karoo3 did they not grip off road? what where they like on road? what are the mitas like?

Karoo was nothing special and gave vibration, I ride mostly on roads/boreens and some tracks so as I had a pair of E07s in garage saw no reason to keep the Karoo. Mitas are a mighty tyre, totally predictable and good price/wear rate.... Karoo just seemed pointless for my riding.

Just put on some Mefo Explorers, after running some second-hand Mefo's. Like them a lot. Got rid of the Siracs as fast as I could. They were dangerous off the road.
