Hi all, This is my first post here and thought previous bikes is a good start:
Honda CB-1 (1st bike, did good enough to learn how to ride a bike) BMW F650GS Dakar black/white, great allroader and packmule, allthough the offroading took it's toll on the bike, after 80.000 km the engine was still running smoothly, but everything around it started to fall apart... Sold it while it was still worth a penny... Yamaha XT600 kick, bought to save the BMW a bit, but found it handling worse than the BMW, so sold within the year. Suzuki DRZ400S, great little bike with plenty of power for offroading and hollidays, more multi-usable than it's lighter enduro buddies. Honda Africa(Rally)Twin RD03, because just the DRZ didn't do it for me, I still longed for a bike tralie. This bike was completely rebuild with KTM parts and other stuff, did the eastern Europe rally on it, really great bike, great suspension, easiest bike to do a long slippery hillclimb with, not to much power to get pt of controll but enough to just keep going and going... I still own it, but the bike is not up to modern standards ecnomy wise, so with the long distances I have to travel to work these days I repleced this bike with the Tenere (still have to sell the Twin though) Suzuki DRZ400E, moved from Holland to Belgium, where they didn't sell the S, so thought it was smarter to buy an E in Belgium and sell the S in Holland. Again great little bike, I still have it ;-) BMW G650XChallenge, best bike I have bought so far, long days on the road, allroadrides, allroadholidays with packing, endurorides, even crosstracks, I do it all with this bike, just the best compromise. I'm even thinking of selling the DRZ-E because I hardly ever use it anymore. Yamaha XT660Z Tenere, because the km's are going faster than I want on the 650XCh and work was moving further away (650km per week) I wanted another bike for commuting, now I coudn't spend my money on a real commuter like a scooter or a 4cyl roadbike or something , so the Tenere it is :unibrow: I just love the appearance, it's economical, comfi and I can do a lot more on it besides commuting :icon_mrgreen: |
Ok, here's my list then:
'94 Yamaha XJ600S Diversion: great bike to learn on. easy, reliable, cheap. Used mainly for going to work. My girlfriend took it off my hands when she started riding. '97 Yamaha XJ900S Diversion: Bloody heavy (and top-heavy on top of it :icon_joker:) but very reliable and easy and cheap to service. Great for 2-up long holiday touring. Got thrashed when a young guy in a Golf decided it was ok to make a U-turn from his parking spot over the lane I was traveling on... '01 Suzuki SV650S: bought this cheaply as I wanted a bike with clip-ons to do some track riding. Sold it when I got my hands on the TRX '04 Yamaha TDM900: My favorite bike so far and by a huge margin. Very comfortable, light, economical. Nice torquey engine and a wolf in sheep's clothes. Excellent for putting the cbrgsxr6-rrrrr racers to shame on spirited mountain rides. Did 70000km on it over the last 3.5 years. Up for sale at the moment in favor of the Ten. '96 Yamaha TRX850: dedicated track bike in the best colour scheme ever (kenny roberts yellow/white with black speedblocks). '08 Yamaha XT660Z Tenere: no need for an introduction there... I also regularly rode on the bikes my gf owned so far: '04 Kawasaki Z750S '05 Yamaha FZ6 |
Had a fair few but to be honest i really cant be arsed to type them all out but i just got rid of a mint ZX6R G1 with loads of extras.Old i know but she was a beauty and the guy that bought her got a blinding deal.
