Just before my trip to PL-SK-CZ, I got a fresh set of K60 Scouts(at 74.000km) and now at 84.000km they still got enuff thread for many more km's.......however....
This morning when checking the tyre pressure, I noticed this(see piccies) on the rear tyre, at three spots, all in the middle: small cracks at the knobbies? What did cause this? Just wear? Could it harm to ride on with these, I have doubts.... The pressure I use: front 2.3, back 2.5 as in the manual. I have a spare set of half worn Scouts, so I'll have the rear one fitted for fall/winter and then in the spring I'll get afresh set. Although I don't know if I'll stick with the Scouts, because the mileage is a bit dissapointing like this(compared to three sets of Tourances with an average of around 20.000km's).
Any thoughts on this matter, guys&gals?

That could just be a tyre that is old and not stored well.....

No one knows how ling it sat on the shelf before you bought it, could have done 2 winters in a freezing store for all you know.....

Do they have a production date on ?

I know some do..

All tyres must have a production date on them:

A stupid question from me again. I am thinking about fitting a pair of Heidenau K60 Scouts on my Tenere for a long overland tour later this year - but it doesnt seem that they produce them in the 17' 130/80 TT size anymore. Can one use tubes in TL marked tires?

http://heidenautires.com/dual-sport-tires/

Because I suppose you cant use TL tubeless tires on the OEM Tenere rims?

heinedau k60 scout ..

Don't worry. Tubeless tyres work just fine on tube type rims (obviously with a tube though! ;) )

Errring more to the K60 for mileage , but just take a look at the size differance !!!

Both 140s

I've just fitted Conti Escapes on my Tengai after removing the Avon Distanzias ... I did consider the K60s and E-09's but went for a more road biased option

So then I can order Heidenaus TL tires (and tubes of course) and fit em on my Tenere I guess.

Thanks again Pleiades!
