heinedau k60 scout ..
ive read a lot on these on adventure rider
and the k60 thread here ... http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=11504&page=2 theres a load of posts but the k60 and the scout are getting way different reviews which has made me give em a go the scout is a different profile but only available in 140 /80 ive decided to give them a go i cant possible see how they could be worse than the sirac off road as mentioned in the thread in fairness to the sirac they seem a decent road tyre and ive ridden som filthy shiny 3degree tarmack and they have been on a par with all the other usual suspects ... i fitted the scouts and have only done 15 miles in the filthy dark and cold ..brand new ...but they seem good given the circumstances .. since i fitted them this happened grr By minkyhead at 2010-12-18 a lot of peiople [adv rider] have rated the scout rear as very good most have been pleased with it the front has got mixed reviews a lot have gone scout rear and tk front .... all have said thet the scout gives huge milage on gs 800s and 1150 adv and the like nearly every post rates them better on the road than the tks link http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...443958&page=25 having destroyed a tk on 1200gs in 1800 miles ive plumped for the scouts ive not had chance to do much with them yet ill update warts and all im looking for a long distance 50/50 .. the siracs are usless off road on anything other than dry or hard packed surface ive learned that /knew that before i dabbled ive used kenda track masters for heavy off road before and they are fantastick .. im expecting a trade off here but am hopful they wont spit me off as soon as it gets loose .... heres the tyre k60 scout 90/90 21 140/80/17 rear By minkyhead at 2010-12-15 By minkyhead at 2010-12-15 front By minkyhead at 2010-12-15 By minkyhead at 2010-12-15 By minkyhead at 2010-12-10 Last edited by minkyhead; 21-12-10 at 03:04. |

I have the K60 old profile on the Ten for about 4k and I'm very pleased with them compared to the Siracs. And they are about half the price.
As far as I know the Scout only has the reinforcement band on the middle of the tire, the composition being the same with the regular old K60. Regarding the sizing, from 2011 is expected the M+S Scout version to be available in 130/80 too. I don't know about the non M+S. |

Does the extra reinforcement mean that it will last longer?
I only get about 8500km from the rear tire.

I'm also very interested in the Heidenau K60 tyres, is the normal or the Scout version. But just like Nelis asked, what is the durability of them, compared to the Metzeler Tourance I now run(which get around 20.000km and more, just got the third set last june). They're probably a bit cheaper then the Metzelers, so that would compensate the maybe lesser durability?
Greetz, Hans.

im still snowed in here grrr
happy xmas everyone anyway ... the weather has help me troll around 200 postings on these tyres taking that theres no one more sad than me ill try sum up what the general feeling is .. the reason i bought them is as follows .... the scout has a bigger blocked tread than the k60 front and rear it has very good reviews regarding its road manners the rear has been giving great milage to 85 90 105 bhp bikes its also been praised for its off road grip .. the front is regarded as better than the tkc on road not as good off road in heavy mud .. if you not interestd in off road too much id stick with the tourance or such like .. i would myself without doubt if you are the tourance sirac trailwing and the like are not up to it unless its dry or hardpacked the tks are a good good tyre but the rear wears quick im not sure at all yet but i will test it in reasonoble teraine and give a honest appraisal hey have you seen me bell me grandoughter got me By minkyhead at 2010-12-25 Last edited by minkyhead; 26-12-10 at 22:37. |

just thought id get back to you on the tyres
ive around 600 miles up now first thing to say is the road manners on the tyres are really very good indeed near all riding has been in ****ty cold shiny roads never any issues with grip or turn in surprisingly white lining goes unnoticed a little blast on dryish roads on sunday getting home getting a little more on the shoulder was no problem at all nice and stable on the motorways no noticible noise / so positive on road grip for sure ive done a few trails and dicked around in the woods ... hard packed cart roads and gravel as you would expect no trouble 25 30 mph if i ever see any dryness again you could fly a fair bit quicker here but thres still the odd ice surprise among the rotting leaves grrr By minkyhead at 2011-01-03 wet slippy mud and slippy grass tracks the rear hooks up pretty well it does break here and there but generally drives well given the limitations of the tread ..its a good 50 50 tyre ..light years in front of trail wings siracs ect not too bad at all as a road tyre to go off road its not too bad here on the other hand its hugly behind a dedicated knobbly enduro boys will hate it ..its a slow speed get me through tyre me general plan is not to activly seek it out ... the front as you may expect is not as good but it does grip . these are for modest speeds only in slippy mud ..on the siracs the bike would have been over no question ...the front does warn you as it moves and a qick dip of the clutch you can feel it regain traction where as the road trails would just comtinue to slide away verdict .. theyll get you through slowly as long as its not silly snot filled trenches medium terain i thought they were pretty decent i/e wet soil rubble i chose a climb and paused a few mins as to be honest ithought i would end up on me arse.. two ciggys later sod it only one way to find out and went up any way i was surprised .. i got the bike up a few tricky climbs which to be honest i didnt think there would be enough drive .. again on the siracs i would imagine three meters before giving up ,,the rear on these drove well 75 meteres to the top all in all so far as a 50 50 maby 6040 tyre there pretty impressive now if i can get the huge milage touted by the other forums ill be pleased happy new year quite steep wet soil By minkyhead at 2011-01-03 semi clogged still driving ok By minkyhead at 2011-01-03 liited in claggy mud but get you through slowly By minkyhead at 2011-01-03 By minkyhead at 2011-01-03 did ok here it was more slippy than it looked but had reasonable traction no sudden pushing of the front By minkyhead at 2011-01-03 Last edited by minkyhead; 03-01-11 at 16:54. |

Thanks for this, might try these, cheap enough, currently at 136 for the pair, if they last 6k I'd be happy. Then I can have a ceremonial tourance burning party, or just chuck em in a ditch, which is where they seem to want to live.

Hi at all.
I must ask you some question about K60 Scout! I'm interesting it, but I didn't find much about wet and rain tarmac and their mileage. Now I have a pair of anakee2, great on wet and rain tarmac, end used for more than 16.000km. I'm searching something more off-road (only a bit) but without problem during raining drive. Thank's to all |
