Cheap footpegs from eBay
In case anyone's interested in more suitable footpegs, I've just received these through the post:
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260562998402&ssPageNam e=ADME:L:OU:FR:1123 In case this link no longer works they are listed as 90-05 YZ80 125 250 500 WR 200 500 and the seller is called dormousesleep. The pegs cost me 20.99 Aussie dollars (which works out at 14.30 Euros here in France) including postage. Can't be bad! They were sent from China. I had second thoughts about the 'Made In China' tag but at this price I thought I'd at least try them out. They went on very easily and are a good fit. I've no idea how well they handle crashing (yet...) but they're certainly better for standing on than the standard pegs. Cheers, Rich |
they look nice.
I bought a pair of pegs from ebay once and they broke while I was installing them... they were made of "pressed aluminium thingy" so they would have broken just by standing on them. let us know how it's going ;) |
The OE pegs are skinny but are these actually much bigger. The listing on fleabay says 3.1 inches by 2 inches. That in my reckoning is no wider (from bike outwards) that the originals. They are deeper (front to back of bike) however. I would really like wider pegs, say 4 inches. Certainly cheap though.
Cheers |
Bought a similar set of these for my DR350 ,brilliant pegs for the money and are quite wide
|
Can't fault the cheap peg's I am more than happy with mine. At the worst buy another set if they break but mine seem to be standing up to lot's of abuse:066:
|
would they fit XTX ?
|
Could you post a picture with the original next to the Chinese?
:hidesbehindsofa[1]: |
orderd some today so will see for myself I think. For the price it seemed harmless enough.

Ive had a set on for a while and they are superb. You may have to drill a hole for the srping on one peg but it dont see it plus its a 2 sec job. Well worth the money

wow they are even cheaper now these must be the cheapest mod you can make to a Tenere (bar a bag over the reg unit) :SpinHappy_15XK8L:that really improves the bike for very little outlay. I paid about 20 from the states at the time but these are the same ones I may even treat my TTR to a pair for that price. |

Thanks very much for the offer Dazz - but I'll pull one of the pegs off at the weekend and do some measuring / photo type stuff and see if it seems a reasonable bet if you're up for it! Selina |

It would probably cost a couple of quid to send it back, so you may has well take a gamble and order the Ebay ones if they don't fit I am sure someone on here with a tenere will buy them from you :downtown: |

Actually, I think there is an X in the dealers, I see if I can find some time today and have a look |
Fitted mine a couple of days ago. Peachy fit considering the price. Spring holes were fine also. Five minutes and a multi tool and all was sorted. Was a bit sceptical as to the increased feeling/comfort they would provide but it was brill. Was off for a couple of hours on some horribly slippery green lanes and then some very steep playing on some banks and they were great. Much much better foot stability.
Thanks for the heads up and all the above coments that made me buy them. and all for just 12 quid posted and here in three days! Cheers |
There's an american store called
D2Moto (link) that sells pegs (I think they're the same) for 15.90 USD.
I got a coupon that gives a discount of 40%. The coupon is valid for one more day (I think). I ordered a set and with shipping it totaled at 28 USD (shipment over to Israel is usually pricey). Check it out if it turns out cheaper for you, and if you'd like, I'll send you the coupon. |

I received and installed mine today.
They're drilled for the spring bit/thingy so no modification is necessary. Installation is straightforward (as said before). i thought I'd take a picture of all 3 possibilities: - OEM peg without rubber - aftermarket peg - OEM peg with rubber http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...h_xtz_pegs.jpg |
Zou,
You show in the pictures that you have removed more of the old peg assembly than required. I am assuming that you know this and replaced the bits you need not have removed otherwise your new pegs would be way to close etc. Best wishes |

But thank you for noticing :) |

Happy riding. |
she's polish, I'm french there's a lot of misunderstanding :D
|
I've installed pretty much the same pegs two days ago.
The right one took a little convincing to go in, but that's because I probably bent the bracket and spring a little during one of my spectacular spills. But now that it's on, I'm rather happy with them. |
I've noticed that they are rather suceptable to the old rust problem. Granted I use them on the TTR for off-road riding (plus the crapy road section in between) so they do get lots of abuse.
I did think at the time that the finish wasn't great, but for the price I still think they are a great deal. Function over bling, so what does a bit of rust matter, kinda makes the bike look a little more rugged..... |

but if its affordable then the colour possibilities are endless I may even go with port and starboard:Gangsta2_9BI664: |

The Pegs are nearly twice as wide as the stock pegs and stick out slightly further as the peg grips start a big further out than stock (see attached pic) Fitting is pretty straightforward even for a mechanicaly inept person such as myself: Straighten and then remove retaining pin holding the bolt. For tools all I used was a pair of long nose pliers. I've not had a chance to ride with them on properly yet but they do seem to very much improve comfort and stability on the pegs. Quality seems reasonable, probably nothing more than cast iron/steel and a bit heavier than stock but a bargin overall for the price. |

THey're really good and offer improved control and comfort :) |
Anyone know yet if they fit the XTX ?
Will have a set if they do. I recall loving my KTM 950SMR pegs and these look very very much the same. |
Anyone know yet if they fit the XTX ?

Foot Pegs
I agree that the OEM pegs on the Tenere leave a lot to be desired, and after having my foot slip off during a maneuver in heavy traffic in the rain (and almost loosing control - an "underpants moment") I started to look for a bolt on alternative. I came upon Pivot Pegz
http://www.pivotpegz.net/. At 150 euro a pair they are nowhere near the price of the bargain mentioned below, but they are TUV approved and Excellent quality. The first ride was a little weird at first, but after a few rides in slippery and tight conditions the difference is amazing. Vibration is about the same as the OEM pegs but the difference in feel and control is impressive. If you can just ignore the price ........ and don't tell the wife. :)
