Check the wattage of the bulbs in your new indictors to make sure they are 12v 10w if they are 12v 5w then they will flash to fast

Hi guys
It was the relay! I bought one from our local halfords and it worked. My bulbs were 12v 6w which was making them flash fast. very easy 5 min job of just replacing the standard 2 pin relay with the new one, just plug in and go ! Personally i wont buy relays from ebay after my last pain in the ass purchase where the seller refused to replace it by saying that it had been tested before it was sent. Must have been talking outta his a r s e as it didnt bloody work! Even if he did take it back i would have been paying the cost of postage. Id rather go to a local shop for something like that, like i said halfords have a small amount of bike gear in there stores now so makes sense for me to do that. Id also pay more for a better make rather than pay half price for one thats been made buy some guy in his garage that refuses to accept that he had made a faulty one, ****! grrrrrrr ..that was a long time ago anyway and im sure not everyone is that c r a p on ebay so i hope you get a good one Husey. Let me know how you get on mate. cheers for all the replys people! |

looking good! What are the mirrors like with the vibes of the XT? As I read somewhere the XT standard mirrors are quite heavy to reduce the vibes or something???

relay & bulb rating
the way flasher relays work is dependent on the current drawn by the bulbs it is connected to. The current drawn through the relay generated heat which flips the relay open. As it cools down, the relay connection is made again. So the cycle goes on: warm>> turned off, cold>> turned on. You get the on/off rate.
I don't have LED bulb, but based on the principle above, if you put lower wattage bulb such as LED (hence less current hence less heat in the relay), you will bet a faster blinking rate. You typically see this on cars with fast blinking indicators which is caused by blown bulbs. Once you know this, the rest is easy to work out |
