Been to YamahaNL today, visited the official presentation of the Super Tenere. First the dealers had an official presentation in the afternoon and afterwards, us customers invited by the dealers, could join. Well organized, some drinks and snacks, and three S10s on display. One standard "First Edition", one fully equipped with accesoires and one stripped, so you could see the engineering and engine. It's not within my budget and I'm extremely happy with my "little" XT660Z Tenere, otherwise I'd go for the Super Tenere!
Very impressive and well built and designed! I can't wait to see/read the first tests and ride one myself(this wasn't possible on this occasion). Added are some piccies, also one of the gadget with the Super Tenere script on it(a multitool!). As of now they can be ordered online, delivery april/may. Greetz, Hans. |
Great pics Dallas. I'm waiting to receive mine :)

What sort of quality are the boxes. Are they the same as the 660 ones ? They certainly look it and to be honest are a) too small and b) not durable enough. I am not very impressed with mine and have asked my dealer (who is going to an equivalent show today) if the bike can be bought without them. I think the first time I will get to see one is when I pick it up ! Ray |

next year should see a naked version + options I've been quite happy with my XTZ660 yamaha sidecase, they're not perfect but I like the waterproffness of the plastic case and the strentgh of the aluminium panels. I would be afraid to break a plastic case (givi type) or bent/rip a metal case (although I saw the amount of abuse they can take) the current yamaha case are quite thich (plastic + metal) and that reduces the available storage. but there's always a solution: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_tL3EwxTEUng/Sk...90609-0847.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/_tL3EwxTEUng/Sk...90609-0847.jpg |

Yep, theyre about the same "quality" as the ones for the XT660Z. So, you'd better wait 'till the aftermarket(Touratech, Off-the-road, Hepco&Becker and such) develop a pannier frame for the XT1200Z.
But hey, it's a hell of a bike, if it rides how it looks, ya won't be dissapointed!! And don't let the bulk of electronics scare ya off! Greetz, Hans. |
My dealer (Saunders in Knebworth) went to the showing yesterday and rang me up today. States it comes as stated - no options.
One bonus point is that it is rideable by humans. He sat on it and got both feet flat down. He is about the same size as me - 5' 10" and said it felt great (yes I know he would wouldnt he). Said I should get mine on 22 June - Just in time for the UK HU meet in Ripley. |
Look forward to seeing you at the HU meeting at Ripley in June then Ray! Maybe you'll let me sit on it?
