Just reached the point where the flashing fuel light has come on and by my calculations thats 55mpg. Thats with the mod dial set at the 6:00 o'clock position. In the main thats short runs to work, negotiating town traffic and driving the engine a bit harder than i normally would.

Is that even possible with a maximum speed limit of 40mph? :slywink: (I used to live in Guernsey)

What mileage did you get before your fuel light came on compared to before? Just trying to compare apples with apples as with the short trips that's going to effect any comparison to bikes riden elsewhere

Fitted the mod. Quite a pain doing the air sensor blue/black wire due to it not long enough. But feels it pulls better at 5 o'clock. Still testing...:glasses2:

Did you cut the outer black protective cover 1st that is over the two wires, if you slit that for an inch or so then it makes the job alot easier

I have had a few questions about the O2 senor & eliminator.

Yes you can run my fuel mod with the O2 sensor still connected; you are most welcome to run it without the O2 eliminator if you want to.

We have been trying to sort the 07/08 XTX/R’s for a long time with the O2 eliminator. The problem is the closed loop circuit; on the 07/08 models Yamaha have added a few extra variables which we can’t seem to get around at this time & Dyno Jet are working on it as we speak.

On the XT660Z they have used a different ECU to the X & R models & do not seem to suffer from the harsh surge that the XTX & R have, so far the Z has not shown the same problems as the XTX & R models when removing the O2 sensor & using the Kawa eliminator. The O2 eliminator is only there to keep the light off & has no tuning effect at all on the XT’s at all, when you disconnect the O2 sensor it is supposed to run at a predetermined fix state & keeps the A/F ratio at a fixed point, the X & R models don’t fix the reading for some reason, Freez has done quite a few dyno runs showing the A/F ratio on the Z & has shown that the XTZ seems to run much better then the X & R models with the O2 sensor disconnected, but is still not perfect, it is still far better then the standard Yamaha fuel map. I am hoping that by the beginning of next year Dyno Jet will come up with a new design O2 simulator.

I have sold a few XTZ mods so far & have had 100% feed back that they are working fine without the O2 eliminator.

Hope that helps explain things better.

Definately. I could only pull out the whole connector an inch or two from under the fuel tank. Lucky thing I have small hands...:icon_tongue:

One day when I can get my hands on a Z I will look to see if we can cut the air temp wire near the ECU to make the fitment a bit easier.

ive gone through my 2nd tank of fuel and hit the flashing fuel indicator at 192miles. so still around 55mpg. Prior to fitting the mod I was getting around 226 miles, but to be quite frank I don't mind sacrificing those extra miles for the gains in performance. Ive been running the mod on the 6:00 o'clock position which i'm happy with. I guess fuel economy would improve if it was at the 3:00 o'clock, but I havn't tried that yet. But as you may know Island driving is a lot of stop starting and I'm normally under 5000 for a lot of the time.
