Nice work mate.:3some:

Fitted Dna stage 2 filters and the Kev mod today. Nice easy job which has totally transformed the bike. Fitted some Leovince exhaust last weekend which definatley let the bike breath a little more but, as others have reported, with the filters fitted the bike now pulls from lower revs and is much quicker to hit the rev limiter. Happy days .:icon_bounce:
Got to thank Kev for a great mod and super fast delivery from Aus. Nick |
Thanks for the feed back Nick.
Hope the Sun comes out for you guys soon so you all can go for a ride. :sunny: |
kevmod
Got my mod today.
had to remove the "bracket" on the fuel tank to get my hands down to the cable cause it was short. everything went fine. Currently running only the DNA filter no DNA air box snorkel thing yet. Will use this when it arrives. kev mod set to "3 o clock" feels like the engine works more "as it should do" Don't need to gear down as soon as the RPM get below 3k. But I did'nt feel any "explosive" change over 3K RPM So far so good ! thanks to Kev for all the help. |

You need to fit the DNA snorkel mod to start to feel the HP gain, then crank the fuel mod to the 5 O-clock position. |

Did as you said Kev; cranked up to 5'o clock and inserted the DNA top.
After putting the kids to bed I took my favourit "close to home" trip. That trip includes a small "hill /top" (dont know the correct road word for that) I have always struggeled to find the perfect gear here. Up/down, up/down between 4 and 5. With the filters and your mod it was only to keep the trottle in the same position. Without gearing down I could accelerate without any asmatic engine hestitation in 5. gear. Ofcause with the "thumper" feeling but that is now a romantic experience. I love the "thumper" crusi'n in low RPM in turns and twist's. Feels as it should now. All this has been written in the forum a lot of times but I just had to get it out :) |

wonder why Yamaha did not get the fuel/air as this initially. Can't be the emission /pollution case, they make 1900 CCM beasts that are fully possible to buy and ride everywhere.
Is there a limit for different cubic range ? 50 gr co2 for up to 750ccm, 70 gr co2 for up to 1200 ccm etc.. Or is it simply that the engine is not build for the extra power and would last shorter with this kind of changes ? There must be some reason, the competiton is hard and the producers sure want to make their bikes as good as possible compared to other.. |

99% of motor manufactures over build their motors with reduced HP & Torque for reliability. There again there are 1000's of modified XT660's with only a hand full that I know of that have let go. |

Or can it be that it is not healty for the motor to run on lower rews ? |
