How to 'drag race' the XTX
Ive been trying to get the XTX to launch off the line at traffic light drag races with mixed results. Sometime im quite fast, other times I feel Im going too easy on the clutch. I feel the 1st gear is veeeerrryyy short.
So, how do you guys launch for maximum acceleration from standstill? ![]() Im not talking wheelies, Im talking maximum acceleration for the quickest get away. |

Other than putting your weight over the front wheel to keep it down, the rest should be practice. The XT should be fairly good at traffic light launches, being a one cylinder and all.
You want a really fast launch, you could also occasionally skip the clutch altogether. Personally I like to wheelie. ![]() |

In first gear I think that would be a guaranteed backflip. You need to find the sweet spot of throttle and clutch release by training.
If you skip the clutch to second gear a slight twist down of the throttle for the change shouldn't bring the front wheel up specially with you still keeping your weight forward. This is all speculative of me, so you know. I usually bring the front wheel up with just - of throttle after I have released the clutch smoothly. But I keep my weight in the back. |
