In first gear I think that would be a guaranteed backflip. You need to find the sweet spot of throttle and clutch release by training.

If you skip the clutch to second gear a slight twist down of the throttle for the change shouldn't bring the front wheel up specially with you still keeping your weight forward.

This is all speculative of me, so you know. I usually bring the front wheel up with just �-� of throttle after I have released the clutch smoothly. But I keep my weight in the back.
