Xtr seat options
I want to tour on my XTR but the seat becomes very uncompfortable after about an hour in the saddle.
I've got an air hawk which helps but not a great deal, as does a sheepskin. I've looked at OTR and there Kahedo seat which is very expensive and without trying it how can you be sure that it's any better than the standard seat. Also there is a seat company in Germany called Motea who will refurbish your seat to include a gel pad and recovering and the price is a bit more respectable compared with OTR. The question is has anyone got any thoughts or recommendations. Thanks in advance Simon |

Hi Harry, I had the very same problem, but on my XT660Z. I went through all the same solutions (i.e. sheepskin etc) and in the end only the Kahedo worked for me. To complicate matters, you then have to decide which height suits you best. For me the problem was that the standard seat forces you to sit in one place. So not only do your seat get sore after a while, your knees are stuck in the same position. I found a flat seat gives you the option to move slightly forward and backwards which gives you far better chance to do that whole day ride. The Kahedo seats are also a bit wider (more support), like an easy chair than the thinner rounder stock seat. Best bet is try sitting on one (find out who on this forum is near you). And then be patient and buy second hand (I did on Ebay), as generally they last for ever. Just look for tears and obvious abuse. Good luck with your search.

Try some triathlon shorts. About bike, double check the position of handlebars and fit some screen to protect you from wind pressure.

Thanks guys
Does anyone on here have any experience with the company Motea (Tourtecs) there system requires that you send them your seat for a refurb to include a new cover and a gel pad which costs 183. The same company Motea also do another seat called Bagster which is more expensive 228 this is also a refurb of the original seat. If anyone has got a Kahedo or either of the above seats and are in or near Devon would it be possible to have a look at them. Cheers Simon |
