Bonjour!

HI all!

Currently riding a GSX750F as my daily ride to and from work (60 miles per day), but looking to get an XT660X.

Not sure how I stumbled upon this forum, maybe through londonbikers.com but so far like what I've seen.

Hope to be on some new wheels soon, and will let everyone know. If anyone else commutes on an XT660X let me know your thoughts.

Hi mate.

I've just went down the same route, R1 to XTX. I'm now using it to commute on a 50 odd mile round trip each day.

First thing you will notice is the comfort however invest in a set of hand guards as the old hands can get a tad chilly. Also I'm finding that the wind hits me directly in the chest so looking for a taller screen to help this.

Problem is I had an accident a few years ago and broke one of my lower vertebrae in half and had some serious surgery on my shoulder. I'm 6' 4" (6' 5" on a good day) and am considering my leg position once my toes are on the pegs.

Having sat on an XTX on Saturday, my legs weren't bent at over a 90 degree angle which felt really nice. Although sitting so far forward on the bike meant my feet were more behind me. Will this cause any pain or be an issue?

I'll definitely be looking at hand guards and heated grips. I love the look of the bike and think a screen would ruin that, might change my mind after getting a battering from the wind.

Welcome bud.
Good choice of commuter and funbike imo.
I commute 70 miles a day on mine and love every second of it come rain or shine.
They make decent commuter/mellow trailie/scratchers.
The forward riding postion is very much a part of the geometry of these bikes, as you know they are modelled on Motards and although too heavy and probably a bit bland on standard suspension to be a proper b*ll*cks out Motard they are alot of fun to ride.
You will be keeping more weight on your front wheel than you are used too and may find the road alot closer in your field of view but that`s all part of the fun.
As far as buffeting goes I usually cruise around the 85-90 mph mark on an open Motorway and find it not too bad in the old wind department, takes a bit of getting used, wrenching your head back from lifesavers and wotnot but definitely not so annoying that it becomes a problem.

My 20p anyhow

Can I put my current bike for sale on here? Need to shift it before I can purchase some new wheels. Obviously would swap for an XTX!
