Consumables / Spare Parts

After a request for the part numbers for brakes pads on another thread, I thought it might be a good idea to list alternatives to OEM parts for consumables like brake pads, filters, chains, sprockets etc. It might be a good idea to copy and paste and add any info you have to the list?

So here is what I've found already:

Brake Pads

EBC part number/s: FA181 for the front, FA208 for the rear.

Oil Filter

K&N part number: 145

Sprockets

15T front 45T rear are the OE sizes, 520 pitch.

JT part number/s: front - JTF 308.15 rear - JTR 855.45 for OE pattern replacements (note the number after the point refers to the number of teeth).

Drive chain

Yep,the handbook doesn't actually say how long it is... fortunately I counted.

110 links (OE length) 520 pitch - ideally use an O ring or X ring, and a rivet link rather than clip.

My personal preference is a D.I.D 520VM, although have just fitted a Renthal R3 (significantly cheaper than D.I.D in the US).

Spark plug

NGK CR7E

Headlight bulbs

H7 55w single filament (dip and main beam)

Hope that helps some of you who have reached the point where bits are wearing out...

Hey, JMO! Is that sparkplug right? The manual says NGK/CR7E, that's a different one. Greetz, Hans.

You're right - I think the CR7E may be the iridium version? (judging by the price)...

My dealer suggested the DPR8EA-9 (which I see was in the older XT600E, and is also used in the TDM and others) would be fine as a spare/replacement... mind you, that might be because a) NGK don't list the 660 engine on their website, or b) that's all he had in stock...

Anyway, I'm sure it will work, but as you say, the correct NGK number as far as Yamaha themselves are concerned is CR7E...

Here is a handy list btw.

Sorry to butt in, but the correct spark plug is indeed the NGK CR7E whereas the Iridium one is CR7EIX or you can get a more expensive Denso one which the correct model is: Denso UI22

Not butting in - it's important to get this information correct...

My DPR8EA-9 is still in it's box - I'll have a word with my 'dealer' when I get back to the UK... (although I'm sure it will still work as a temporary spare?)

Think on the positibe side, Denso has factories in USA and if you manage to source a Denso one it'll cost half of what they charge here for it (11.99)!!

Just been looking into some spares prices,

front brake lever part no : 5VS8392200 is 44 !!!

front wheel bearing are 20 each !! and the rear 15. Bearing should be no problem to find I will check the numbers when I have the wheels out.

I am battling to find an after market front brake lever, there must be a simple lever out there somewhere without the adjustments? any ideas where I can look ?

The Rethal sprockets part numbers are

front : 281-520-15P
Rear 219U-520-45P-HA

I fitted an old DRZ clutch lever today and it does work, not a perfect fit but a good replacement in an emergency which is handy because I have quite a good supply of the pre-shortened variety.

The problem I've found is it is essentially a road-bike lever - the Yamaha FZ1 has exactly the same master cylinder set up, but I image that lever (or a copy) is going to be a similar price?

It is also physically the same shape as one of the quad bike levers ASV do, although the quad version I've seen doesn't have the pin to attuate the master cylinder, so you'd have to modifiy it slightly (with a drill!) to make it fit?

Personally I think a pattern FZ1 lever would be the way to go for the brake - unfortunately the clutch lever on the the Ten' isn't the same size as the FZ1 clutch...

The brake lever looks to be the same as my TTR600RE adjustable lever - that is available as a pattern part for 11.50 from Wemoto .
