Indicator problem

Hey all. Just got a new to me 2013 XT660X

Took it on my second ride and discovered a problem.

I noticed the indicator was flashing quicker than normal.
Then suddenly left front indicator stopped working. I figured it was a blown lightbulp, that can sometimes cause the indicators to flash quicker as well.

When I came home and got off the bike and turned on the engine I wanted to check the indicators again. Suddenly everything worked fine and the left front rear indicator was working too. I turned on the engine again and they still worked fine, no problem.

Any idea what could have caused this? Im not good with electrics.11

Yep, a blown bulb that due to vibration re-shorted/re-connected the filiment
and is now working again. It will break again....

Ok so I changed the bulb. However, the problem persists.

Sometimes all indicators work and then sometimes the front left one that I thought had broken, doesnt and the other lighter flash fast. Sometimes it doesnt work and the other lights DONT flash fast.

So I know pretty much nothing about electrics but I am willing to try and figure out. Anyone have an idea where to start looking for a problem?

Like I said the bike is pretty new, 2013 model with 7800km on the clock so I am a bit bummed that I already seem to be having an electrical problem. I hope its something minor.
So yeah, any suggestions?

You could try swapping the bulbs from the left indicators to the right & the right ones to the left to see if the problem transfers to the other side with the bulbs.
If not check the connectors near the indicators are clean inside & out.
Then it may be worth opening the switch gear on the handlebars so check the condition in there.

Good luck.

Just also thought are they the original indicators or have they been changed with some aftermarket ones?

Yes, its the bog standard indicators. Bike has never been fiddled with.

Thanks for your input. I will try everything you said later today when I am off work.
