I already had Metal Mule panniers so have fitted the new rack. Unlike other racks it fits on top of the hand rails. Its really solid and has stopped the number plate vibration. The boxes are pricy but I have found them as tough as hell.

I was not able to get the sump guard and bar fitted from Yamaha so have one on order from Metal Mule.

I will try to get pictures in the next few days.

Thats excellent, I also find them tough as hell and really solid, we should have a national meet sometime. I expect to meet Paul from Metal Mule down at Peterborough next week for a photo shoot for MCN and hopefully he will have some crash bars as well to put on.....and at Dartmoor next weekend for the GS meet there as he wanted to take my bike to show it off! Cheers SteveD
PS the lowering link helps me at 5' 8" to put the balls of my feet firmly on the ground and if I put the forks through about 10mm I will be quite comfortable but the sidestand now need shortening, a job for this weekend......and yes it fell over in a bikers car park much to my humiliation but the panniers took the brunt and were hardly scratched!
:dink:

Hi Tony 1960, just for clarification, did you install that cigarette plug or did your bike come with it?

I managed to fit a pair of Acerbis Multiplo T handguards tonight.
The only stumbling block was having to drill up the bars to enable the expanding bar-end plug to go all the way home. You'll need a 13.5mm drill bit. The material cut very easily so a battery drill was sufficient.
Put all the screws in the assembly before you tighten anything of them up.
Watch the front brake pipe banjo bolt, it may need turning up a bit to clear the alloy bar on the righthand side. Just slacked the banjo bolt enough to turn it, this will prevent air entering the brake system.
I've decided to bin the bar-end weights, whats a bit of vibration amongst friends.....
All in all I'm please with the look and protection offered by these handguards. They should save the levers when (not if!) I fall off.......:laughing7:

Next job is to fit Pirelli MT21 tyres and rimlocks.

Timpo.

Could you post a photo to see how you fit the handguards?I bought the Acerbis touring and now i am trying to find out a way to fit any stainless steel bar end i can.I 'll much appreciate the photo!

I think that's a 12v accessory socket, not a cigarette socket. The space it's fitted in (same as mine) just isn't big enough to get a cigarette socket in.

You need to fit them yourself, they cost about 10 from Halfrauds (in the UK) or Maplin etc. You'll also need to install an auxilary circuit (+ & - supply from the battery, ingition feed from say the brake light switch. wired into a relay and out of that you get a 12v supply that is on/off with the ignition)

Ok.

so Tony did in fact found a free connector under the plastic cover located between the clocks and the bulb access cover and used it to connect a 12V socket.

this one maybe: http://www.xt660.com/showpost.php?p=79547&postcount=35
