Here few people had problem with Akras and it was on other bikes such as GSXR 1000 and few other sport bikes.

Akropovic say you will have to contact your distributer. No distributer in NZ so I left it at that. I have stop drilled the cracks on my pipes and they have not progressed any futher. That part that cracks is stainless steel so its a lot easier to weld than titanium. I am looking for some rubber mounts that have the same thread as the mount on the frame. I will let you all know when I find something.

Just wondering: are those steel cans or titanium?
No problems with mine btw. Or none of my friends.

The ones I have seen cracked were titanium ones.

My ones are titanium- not a single crack anywhere. Absolutely beautifully made exhausts. And how come that no matter how hard I thrash the bike, the cans never get too hot to put my hand on them? Weird! Is Ti that good at heat dissipation?

Nathan I am surprised you seem to know a lot about suspensions and physics, but you didn't know that after market cans (that's all of them, regardless of the brand) don't get hot because.... the hot exhaust gases don't stay long enough in them to retain heath???? (through the lack of cat converters and noise damping restrictions)

:book1:

I questioned it because I have had over 40 bikes in my time, many with cans of all sorts. My last, a Hayabusa with stainless microns, got plenty hot. as did my ZXR750 and ZX10 with stainless cans.

And yes, they were all straight-through as well. I can only guess it's because my XTX ones are Ti.

I have never had Ti cans before and I have made my assumption on the heat issue being what they were constructed from, not because they are straight-through or indeed have a lack of converters as you suggest.

Not just Ti cans but my brushed aluminium Leo's don't get hot either. Even after a one hour thrash you can put your hands on them - can't wait 'til the winter :icon_king:

motonacio 03-09-08 15:13

I can't fry eggs on my carbons :CCC: - the longs here in UK and the stubbies in Spain where you would expect them to get really really really hot - they don't - but the pipes do. blowup blowup

I stop drilled the cracks on mine with a 3mm drill and they have not gone any futher. I will weld them when they need re-packing one day.
