Hi Kev.
Did you port the head yourself? |
Yes I did Freez, I did not go over board & do the guides. I have done a few heads in the past & have got 2 years of info off the Raptor forums on what the Raptor heads like & which areas need work & applied it to the XT head with a bit of common sense.
I have a before dyno run from last year with my standard motor & will run the bike on the same dyno with the same set up, to see if there any gains or losses. |
Hello Kev,
what tools do you use to p&p the head? It looks great! |
Thanks Marcel.
To get to this stage was 4 hours of work, first shaping & flow the valve seats to match the inlet ports, then flow the port all the way through. Polish then lots of elbo grease with different grades of sand paper, finishing off with fine grade water paper. Freez do you have a price on +1mm & +2mm inlet valve please. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...x/DSCF2580.jpg |
I finished off my spare head today. I lapped in all the valves & re-assembled the head.
Kev2 machined the Raptor 700 cylinder last weekend, so it will fit straight into a standard XT660 crank case. I now have a bolt on kit that will produce over 60HP depending which cam I use. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Qg_4Ef_cA http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...evxtx/a-10.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/c-6.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/b-8.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/d-5.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/g-3.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/h-3.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/i-3.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/j-2.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/k-1.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/kevxtx/m-1.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Qg_4Ef_cA |
Kev are you using oversized valves?
|
I admire your work Kev, it's like watching a sculptor or a painter. Good stuff! :notworthy:

It is a easy job to get the seat cut for the bigger valves & match the port to the seats. |
