Hi Kev.

Did you port the head yourself?

Kev 08-06-09 23:31

Yes I did Freez, I did not go over board & do the guides. I have done a few heads in the past & have got 2 years of info off the Raptor forums on what the Raptor heads like & which areas need work & applied it to the XT head with a bit of common sense.

I have a before dyno run from last year with my standard motor & will run the bike on the same dyno with the same set up, to see if there any gains or losses.

A few photo's of my spare head. I cleaned up the inlets for better flow today, I will work on the exhausts side next weekend. This is the head that is matched to the Raptor 700 cylinder.

Hello Kev,

what tools do you use to p&p the head? It looks great!

Kev 14-06-09 10:58

Thanks Marcel.

To get to this stage was 4 hours of work, first shaping & flow the valve seats to match the inlet ports, then flow the port all the way through. Polish then lots of elbo grease with different grades of sand paper, finishing off with fine grade water paper.

Freez do you have a price on +1mm & +2mm inlet valve please.

I finished off my spare head today. I lapped in all the valves & re-assembled the head.

Kev2 machined the Raptor 700 cylinder last weekend, so it will fit straight into a standard XT660 crank case.

I now have a bolt on kit that will produce over 60HP depending which cam I use.

Kev are you using oversized valves?

CaptMoto 20-06-09 23:38

I admire your work Kev, it's like watching a sculptor or a painter. Good stuff! :notworthy:

I am waiting on Freez to come back with a price for +1 & +2mm inlet valves. I will have to wait to see what happens with my next bike, if I can get another XT I will fit over sized valves, if I can't get a new XT the kit will be up for sale.

It is a easy job to get the seat cut for the bigger valves & match the port to the seats.
