hi exposed the wire around the injector and a couple of inches either way..all seemed fine fitted new pump and although a bit louder it seems to work fine....went a short run revving up to5/6 k..stopped and started it many times...fuse holding...happy but concerned why it was blowing fuses when i had the pump effectively detached from the bike?...maybe i have disturbed the loom in a positive way...happy ..but still a bit ill at ease..i would be very grateful on your thoughts in this matter...again i thank you ...cheers...ps i dont know if i mentioned it already but it looks like the pump unit may have been off before as the paint registration maks on the allan keys were not lined up

At last some good news! :woo:

Do you mean the new pump was blowing fuses off the bike as well as the old one?

gaulty 26-10-15 17:21

no i was referring to the fact that the bike was blowing fuses with the tank on the bench...so in effect the fuses were still blowing with the pump and fuel indicater detatached from the bike

Then it may well be what you suggested - a dodgy bit of wiring or connector that was disturbed during your fiddling about?

Anyway... It's working, and let's hope it stays that way!

is there a way i can test the origional pump to see if it was indeed faulty..would the ecu have sent more power through the system when the pump was removed causing the fuse to blow..or am i clutching a straw..?

Only to check the internal resistance together with bench testing the current draw (which you've already done.

What you could have done is measure what the current draw of the new pump was on the bench before you fitted it; then you could have compared the two.

Not sure, but I guess it's possible that the ECU might let odd things happen if the ignition is switched on with the fuel pump disconnected?

Cheers ...you have been a god send in this matter ...thanks again
