CP Piston 100mm 11:1

Hello,

I was surfing on the internet and this was coming by.

http://www.gw-racing-parts.de/index2...is=2010&lan=en

Search for this article name: PCPXT660/04-09/100mm

Did somebody tried a higher compression piston with the stock cylinder size?
And so yes is this recommend? HP gain? torque gain?

Is the diamond honing really necessary or only on a engine with allot of km's?

Greetings,
Thom Plas

Kev 19-11-14 11:41

I have seen their pistons & tunning kits, you get around +1.5 more HP per 1:1 compression point, so you will have 1.5 more HP going from a 10:1 to a 11:1 piston of the same bore size.

If you set the correct deck height for the piston you can see 2 more HP per compression point, the XT has a low deck height as standard.

I would not diamond hone a nikasil bore, I have always used a fine scotch brite pad

The min I would go on the XT motor is 11.5:1 CP piston with a Raptor 102mm cylinder, you can machine the cylinder skirt so the cylinder drops right into the standard XT casings.

Thanks for ur reply, i've found the piston.

Christmas is early :)
102mm CP Tech piston 11,5:1 and Throttlebody bored out to 46mm by www.Maxbore.com

Next step is to port my cylinderhead and get a 102mm OTR Cylinder

Is there a other brand or company than OTR that offer bigger exhaust headers?

Cheers

Thom_p93 16-12-14 11:12

Hi Kev,

Can i run RON 95 and 98 on a 11,5:1 piston?
Or is it only recommend to run RON 98?

And do you know the specs for the needed deck height?

Greetings,
Thom Plas

Kev 17-12-14 10:32

98 RON would be the one I would be using.

Thom_p93 20-12-14 15:39

Okay thanks Kev!

Just sent my cylinder head to america for a porting and flowing proccess.
And it will be power coated black
I'll post some pic's if its done!
:team[1]:

Kev 21-12-14 10:08

Look forward to seeing your results.:occasion14:

Just started with breaking done the bike.
Are there things to look after? what's important?
Also made a 220v adapter for my powercommander.
Build it by myself for only 10 bucks. Normally it cost 70 bucks??

Yesterday i went further with the bike.
The engine is finally dismantled from the bike :love-smiley-085:
The hardest part was to lower the engine out of the frame :/
Everything went oke with ur instructions kev.
What is that engine heavy, wow haha.

Kev is there a way to change the thread's name?

Do i need to renew the engine and head bolts when i replace my cylinder and head? Or can i just use the old ones?

You could get away with the old ones, but they will have stretched a little and lost some of their tensile strength. It is much easier to accurately set the torque on new bolts (particularly the head) rather than used ones.

Thom_p93 18-01-15 17:53

Hmmm oke oke thanks
Not really convinced to get new ones because they are 120 euro total.

Kev do you renewed them? or do you know other big bores projects who did?

Kev 19-01-15 11:55

I used mine a few times & never had any problems they are not stretch bolts so you will be OK.

Thom_p93 19-01-15 17:04

Okay thanks!
did you use locktide?

Also busy with a temperature meter for my oil and coolant :)
Pic's will follow.

Kev 20-01-15 11:29

Not on the head bolts.

Thom_p93 21-01-15 13:08

Okay thanks!

Cylinder is now in america to, for big bore and powder coating.

:)

Thom_p93 19-02-15 20:30

Sooo today I received Oxford heated grips because it's my birthday:chevil:

http://i58.tinypic.com/2bbcqo.jpg

And good news from the company that's working on my cylinder and head. The head is already done and they only need to finish the hone and plate work of the cylinder.

And also there is comming a skid plate for my xt660 from germany :woo:

Kev 20-02-15 12:51

Looks like all the mods are coming together.

Thom_p93 26-02-15 13:03

So i had a good deal with some akrapovic cans :077:

Hi kev,

What map do you suggest to run the bike in when its rebuild?
I saw that there were different 700 maps but i dont know which one to take.

Custom map by Marjani - XT660.com; created 5-9-09.

2005 Yamaha XT660X European model 700CC conversion
Akrapovic exhaust no silencer
DNA Stage 3 air box Kit
AIS closed
In later models Map must be used with oxygen sensor eliminator

I still need to do more work on this map on the dyno so use it as a guide only.

Kev 28-02-15 06:28

With the engine work you have done I would be getting your own custom map built.

You can try the ones mentioned to see what the motor likes but a custom map will always produce the best results.

Thom_p93 28-02-15 11:23

hmm thought i only needed to make a custom map after it ran in (500km), but thanks again! Haha

Thom_p93 03-03-15 17:32

Some new pic's of the head and the akrapovic cans with new stickers.

Hello,

I'm trying to make a replica of the DNA stage 3 airbox because original it's to expensive (700).
Total expenses:
1x 2nd hand airbox 25
1x K&N Filter RC-9410 48
3x 14mm filter 25
1x Silicone hose 51>76mm 13

Pic's so far.

Looking very good, had a similar setup to my XT:
stock 100mm, 11:1 CP piston, OTR camshaft and flowed head.
Gave a nice gain and a much sportier feel (fast throttle response and more pull).

Veel succes en veilige km's!
Groeten uit Den Haag ;)

Thom_p93 12-03-15 10:05

Haha bedankt! Hoe reed hij op de testbank? of is die nooit op de testbank geweest?

Little update on the airbox, fitted small filters.

Build in the main filter http://www.motor-forum.nl/global/smileys/smile.gif
Only the inlet pipe wasn't good so i used a plastic pipe.

http://i61.tinypic.com/2r70vtv.jpg

Only need to paint the pipe black (between filter and TB) and round everything up.

Kev 15-03-15 08:13

Looking good, any close up photo's of the main filter & intake?

Thom_p93 16-03-15 12:34

Thanks!
I'm curious about the test results when the bike runs!
Will keep you guys posted!:glasses2:

ot2nie 23-03-15 23:29

dani7710 28-03-15 02:10

why do not you put the filter k & n straight on the collector? it seems that just remove some plastic at the top.
it is important that both direct as the dna.

Thom_p93 30-03-15 13:39

Hi dani,

Here can you see how dna did it.
I tried to do the same, but its hard the fit the filter.
So the intake is a little bit longer.

have the measurements of the main filter DNA stage3?
if not straight will not be in the least comparable to the dna stage3.is the fluid dynamics.
see my pictures, you have to cut more the top, by the arrows should understand.

Original dna stage3 filter size is 380mm diameter on bottom and 300mm on top with a length of 110mm.

I know what you mean but i wanted that the filter fitted the box.
With a straight intake the filter sticks out on the top.

Today i received my new plastic's from www.motosp.gr "yamaha black"

sorry 380mm diameter is very big.. 38cm? or 38/6,28= 6,05x2= 12,1cm diameter on bottom?
30/6,28= 4,777x2= 9,55cm on the top?
lenght 11cm
know other measures?
