Fried clutch at only 780km
Plus if I carry spare oil fully synth and put it in with semi for top ups if needed will it be ok?
This is what I carry for emergancy http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/25/vepesyzu.jpg Time spent without rod in hand is time forever wasted. |

Fridolin is right, imo. Run what you like within reason, and the Tenere won't care. But for general Australian conditions, I think a 10W-40 is too light. I still use Pentrite 5W-60 full synthetic (and here I duck the typed missiles flung at me from all corners of the earth. Peace, people. Peace...). I've tried others including Yamalube mineral and some semi-synthetics, but my engine seems to rattle along fine with this oil. If I did a lot of slow riding, eg going to work every day, I think I'd use a mineral to prevent bore glazing (or is it polishing?). Can't remember the difference. |
Cheers mate I have no idea when it comes to oil in bikes.
I'm not very happy with the mechanics at the yamaha dealer so after this issue is sorted I will be going to a local bike mech who has a great rep. He won't touch your bike or even let it in his shop if it's not clean LOL I'm dead serious. I went and had a chat to him and u could literally eat off the floor of his workshop. The place looks like a dr surgery I was very impressed. Time spent without rod in hand is time forever wasted. |
We have one bloke like that but he's miles away. ******.
By the way, all the best with your bike. Sounds like a pre-delivery issue, which stinks as often you're charged heaps for it. |
Yea fingers crossed it all goes well. I will keep updating on what's happening :)

Ok so when my clutch was fried I had a noise coming from the front of the bike lasted approx 20 sec sounded like a screeching noise it didn't change on revving the engine or when I braked only when the bike slowed down or speeded up it changed pitch slightly. So I put it down to something in my brakes or my clutch as it was fried and forgot about it. Now my bike is back with a new clutch it happened again same thing 20 sec at about 70km didn't change when I pulled the clutch in or used the front brakes only when I slowed down or sped up it changed pitch. I've tried to get it to do it again bit no luck. Has anyone got any ideas on what it could be?

Stone/debris trapped somewhere round the forks/mudguard or maybe lodged in one of the cailpers? Have you checked the wheel bearings too?

Bike only has 800km on it so I doubt it's a wheel bearing, I can't replicated it again, it doesn't sound like a vibration just a screeching noise. I can't see anything in the brake callipers and it didn't change pitch when I hit the brakes only changed pitch when I slowed down or sped up then it was gone. Lasted 20 sec

This happened to me after I changed the fork oil. I did the usual wheel/disc alignment by pumping the forks up and down upon reassembly, did up the pinch bolts and... intermittent screech and scrape. I could not find any reason for it. Eventually I undid the pinchbolts and tried again. The fork leg moved out about 1mm and the noise stopped, never to return. Weird.
