which exhaust?

has anyone fitted a delkevic exhaust?
do they sound good?
i pressume they are lighter than standard.

1157jonboy 11-03-13 14:31

My delkevic pipes were delivered today, as soon as i get them on i'll let you know.....

chopsy 11-03-13 14:41

excellent, hope its an easy fit and hassle free.
and more importantly, sounds good. haha.
keep me posted.
what other mods have you done?

Mort 11-03-13 21:15

Re: which exhaust?

Just stuck an MTC on mine. Sounds great! Also nearly 7kg lighter than the stock but that is on a Ten.

Hamslay 12-03-13 10:00

I've not ordered one yet, but I'll soon be going for a Hawk exhaust.

http://www.pipewerx.com/pipewerx_bik...awk-sl-gp.html

They're actually Pipewerx, who have a good reputation. Apparently, the Hawk cans are the same as the Pipewerx cans but without laser cut and hand assembled end doodahs. The quality and warranty is the same.

The thing that swung it for me, after talking to them, is that they said they can sell single cans not just a pair, plus they will do repairs. For a noob planning to take my XTR off road, a supplier who will sell single cans and repair dings is a big plus for me.

chopsy 12-03-13 10:20

those hawk exhausts look mouth watering, i like the idea that they sell single cans too. what other mods have you guys done?
any for performance or just general looks?

SimonRoma 12-03-13 10:25

I have the Leo Vince pipes on mine and the noise is lovely!!!!

chopsy 12-03-13 10:40

ive listened to the leo vince ones on youtube and i agree they sound lovely, but my budget wont stretch that far.

Hamslay 12-03-13 10:43

I know Leo Vince is a top brand, but I'm looking for something simple. I have a nice Remus can on my K1300S because I don't expect to drop it (again!!). But for the XT I want something simple that can take a drop without sending me into floods of tears! :)

chopsy 12-03-13 10:50

any drop would have me in floods of tears. haha
im on a budget with the dream that there is quality for cheaper prices
lol

Delkevic pipes fitted in less than half an hour. They are very good quality, fit nicely and they are loud! I've taken the baffles out, and just started the bike up havent ridden it yet due to the snow! May have to put the baffles back in if they get annoying. Also a lot lighter than standard, I went for Stainless Ovals with angled outlet. The guy at Delkevic was very helpful, and he knocked 20 off the eBay price as I went direct to Delkevic. Pipes also come with 1yr warranty.
I've just received Kevs fuel mod and o2 controller, havent fitted them yet, thats a job for the weekend. By the way mines a 2010 xtx.
Good luck choosing your pipes mate!

Hamslay 13-03-13 14:42

1157jonboy, I hope you get to put a few miles on the bike with just the pipes before you fit the fuel mod. I'm going to go with pipes soon, but am hesitant to do the fuel mod because of extra cost, less mpg on a bike I intend to tour on, and risking giving insurers a reason not to pay up! So, it would be really good to hear your thoughts on the pipes before and after the fuel mod.

Cheers!

1157jonboy 13-03-13 15:00

Hamslay, I plan on doing just that. I'm planning on going out at the weekend if the snow has cleared up, with just the pipes fitted. Then I'm going to fit the Fuel mod and try that in different situations, and when happy with that, then I will fit the o2 controller. And for now thats all I'm going to do to the bike. I've hammered the Cedit Card so need to start paying that back! Oh yeah and I better spend some time with the wife and kids too!! :icon_thumleft:

chopsy 13-03-13 15:25

1157jonboy, they look pretty cool. glad to hear they fitted easy and bonus for gettin 20 knocked off. i'll be goin direct to them too!!
mines an 09 in white and ive treated her to a k&n air filter, swingarm protectors, fork protectors, exhaust wrap and exhaust protectors, (the ones that look like a spine used on motocrossers). diy tail tidy next on the cards and the pipes.

1157jonboy 13-03-13 15:31

Chopsy, not sure how soon you need the pipes but when I ordered mine on Friday there were only 3 sets left, not sure how long before they made the next batch.....

chopsy 13-03-13 15:42

jonboy, i NEED them asap. lol.

1157jonboy 13-03-13 20:37

I know the feeling mate. DO IT!!!!

chopsy 13-03-13 20:41

gonna be ringin them tommorrow or friday. emailed them earlier about stock, mentioned that i got recommened.
this bike is costin me more on mods than fuel so far. haha

scarab1987 13-03-13 20:45

Chopsy - if there was a "Like" button.... I would have pressed it 6,000 times on your post. I have done about 300 miles on the bike since picking it up and let's just say that I'm not going to work out per mile travelled on purchase nor "improvements"!!! :o

I'm a member of that club too. 400 miles on the bike, but I've done seat mods, Renthals, Barkbusters, centre stand, engine bars, sump guard, DNA filter...

:D

chopsy 13-03-13 22:28

dale and hamslay, im glad im not the only one.
hopefully gonna be ridin tommorrow though.

DaleC 13-03-13 22:52

Maybe we should start a new club "farklers, not riders", or "keyboard adventurers?"

In my case, I'm embarrassed to list that I have: Renthals, Barkbusters, heated grips, touring screen, GPS RAM mount and wiring, centech fuse block, MM 2 into 1 exhaust, Gilimoto tank, Kev's fuel and O2 mods, LED turn signals, givi pannier rails, MM rear rack, folding gear lever, brake extension and the free mod - snorkel removed :p

This weekend is attempting to install Mitas E-09 Dakar tyres and a tool tube :)

Still waiting for the engine guard (long story) and now waiting on an OTR item.

And yes, I feel like a cheque book racer :(

firestorm_al 14-03-13 09:35

which exhaust?

I still have the Devil Runner carbon cans off my old XTX lying around as well as the Leo Vince alloy cans I had on my XTZ.

Never got round to selling them after I changed bikes.

Al.

1157jonboy 16-03-13 21:16

chopsy 16-03-13 21:32

Hamslay 16-03-13 21:40

Holy crap! Tourances even get a puncture from rain?!?

chopsy 16-03-13 21:48

haha, guess i should have wrote more to explain it wasnt rain that gave me a puncture. it was a bit of black country metal. haha

DaleC 16-03-13 23:47

Is that like the puncture that I got in the garage today? Mine was from a bit of metal too....

the tyre levers.

:Christo_pull_hair:

chopsy 17-03-13 10:06

Strangely, my accident happened within minutes of the wife going out to the garden centre.

chopsy 17-03-13 11:58

haha. i live in a flat so theres no chance my missus goin to a garden centre.

chopsy 20-03-13 13:31

just ordered some delkevics. guy on the phone (ron) was very helpful. 240 for both silencers.
next day delivery too.

Hamslay 20-03-13 13:34

Nice one chopsy! That's a good price.

You might have yours fitted before I do mine, which are still laying on the garage floor. Bloomin' gaskets!

chopsy 20-03-13 14:16
