Hey Chopsy, have you got your pipes yet? Did you go for Delkevic in the end??

Hamslay, 12 for each new gasket!!! is there no other option?
breakers yard maybe, if you know the size of the gasket, they might have some lying around.

Once used they don't come out of the pipe too readily. Never mind, it's the delay rather than the cost that bugs me. Anyway, my main concern now is whether the pipes are going to fit with my centre stand.

D'oh!

chopsy 20-03-13 14:33

oh dear.
the delay is always the stinker, but why is that?
we work hard for the money, not the time. lol

Nice one mate, enjoy them. I think mine are 450mm but they are extremely loud without the baffles!!!

chopsy 21-03-13 12:41

they arrived this morning!! i only ordered them yesterday, so im off to the garageto fit them today.
well packaged too. think i'll do a write up on the hall of fame coz they have been excellent to deal with.
how come you chose the 450mm jonboy?
i chose the 350mm coz i thought the extra weight saving can only be a bonus.

Hamslay 21-03-13 14:46

Chopsy, I hope you're having better luck than me.

It turns out the Pipewerx link pipe is NOT compatible with the SW Motech centre stand. The angles of the pipe compared to OEM are pretty similar, but the Pipewerx pipe is twice the diameter and hence fouls the stand when it is retracted.

Pipewerx say they didn't know centre stands were an option on the XTX and XTR and don't really have any advice.

Looks like someone might get a bargain on eBay next week. :(

---------

Update: Short of divine intervention, I think I'm going to have to spend a couple of hours cleaning off all the silicone lubricant and copper grease and polishing the link pipes before packing it all up and sending it back. *IF* I can get a full refund, I'll just be down 10 postage to get the pipes here, 20 to send them back and 20 for the wasted new gaskets. I don't even want to think about the DNA filter at another 50 that I spent ready for the pipes.

******.

chopsy 21-03-13 18:47

hamslay, so gutted for ya mate. aint there nowhere that could make new link pipes or anyone else on here know if any others fit?
poor research on pipewerx part ay? thought they would have had all areas covered.

as for my luck, well, im a numpty!!
i over tightened the clamp that fits the link pipe to the headers. had to go get a new clamp. well, three actually, just in case my ham fisted-ness did it again and again. lol.
gotta buy some exhaust sealant tomoz and just put it over the slight blowing, then im done.

Hello, I have been awaiting your "Delkevic 350mm pair fitted" post. Why.... well I also am keen to get/order those silencers, and also have the mowtec centre stand fitted. Called Delkevic about it to ask if the new pipes exactly follow the original lines of standard silencers/pipes, although helpful, he couldn't say 100%.

So, I assume you have now fitted them? was it possible to fit them and retain the centre stand please?

Thanks in anticipation...

ps... klr650cc was bike before my 2005 XT660X

My Leo Vince pipes have been on 2 XT660Xs so far and they still look good. And re the fear of damage when the bike goes over I have Givi pannier frames on my XTX and they protect the pipes completely in the event of a spill, I er tested this recently and the pipe on that side was totally unscathed.......
