Side stand hits MTC link pipe....

So, my X has the new & improved link pipes very kindly supplied by MTC, following the issues of the newer X swingarm (see other thread...).
Anyway, I pulled up at the lights yesterday, & glanced down at the side stand: it was touching the link pipe when in the 'up' position. I got home, un-bolted everything & tried to reposition link pipe to stop this - no joy!!! I may be able to fashion some type of stop to fix to the stand, as the interference is only a couple of mm. I don't think its dangerous, but something will wear out sooner or later - anyone else had this issue??????

Not noticed this but I'll have a look first chance I get.

Yeah i have the same thing with mine, Keep meaning to take the sidestand off and put a couple of mm of weld on it where it hits the stop, just to keep it out.

Yo bigtrev: seems like a reasonable fix, but sadly I don't have a welder & can't weld anyway....
So - I was thinking of drilling the side stand bracket & fixing an adjustable stop made out of a piece of steel plate. Will keep you posted & do some photos.
Have MTC looked into this?
Merry Xmas to all - I have had rather a lot of a fine single malt her indoors bought me for a present, so apologies for the long post!!!!!!!!

the sidestand on my X is the same, it doesn't really bother me though, so i've left it.

Unless I can figure a quick fix, I won't bother. I notice a small mark where the stand rubs - a bit of Autosol every now & then removes it.

if you've seen my latest thread, i need to sort out my downpipes!

it might be possible to rotate the stand in the mounts a little, or to dremel out the mount a little to make it possible?

Yeah - I had a look at this, but rotating the stand will cause the bike to lean over too much when parked. Also, the whole bracket assembly is a big chunk of steel, so bending it would probably need a lot of heat/work - easier to add a blob of weld or some sort of adjustable stop.....

I came across the exact same issue today when I started fitting my new MTC exhausts. I've sent a mail to MTC describing the issue, I'll get back when I hear from them.

I had a quick look at mine, it looks like it sits about 1mm away!
