Rear brake mod
I hacked off the end from a brake pedal of a honda xl600 and welded it to the rear brake pedal of the tenere (well my friend did, but it was my idea):toothy10:

Nice job! And you are right -Yamaha should have done this from the outset. They made the gear lever spring loaded so why not the brake pedal??
The more i live with my Ten the more i think the mighty 'Y' just paid lip service to the whole 'overlander thing'. Where did they do most of the test riding? Surbiton high street? |
i was just thinking about how to do a bendy brake lever the other day actually, right after i dropped the fuggin thing and bent my brake lever....
Nice job fella. |
very nice indeed. Have to get me a xl600 brake pedal asap!
|
Proper job.
Cue a rush on XL600 brake pedals on ebay! What are those pegs? Is it the standard peg with the rubber hoiked out? |
I would like to know where you got that little plate on the engine cover, just behing the brake lever, and what you call it. I want one

@rudiedj: the little plate is as standard and I think is glued on, maybe you can get it at Yamaha. |
That plate desappeared from my bike. Yes, it's only glued.
Nice job with the brake pedal! |
The old XT600s had folding brake leveres too if you want to stick to Yamaha stuff !:icon_cyclops_ani:
Probably have one for sale soon but its attached to my '86 XT600Z ! |
My XT600 came out with a straight brake pedal just like the Tenere has. Replaced it with a later model XT600E bendable brake pedal after an off bending it back onto itself until it rested ontop of the footpeg.
I also now have a brake snake fitted. |
