Hi Graham

P'haps I should PM this but anyway ! Chinese bike got me back from Spain in four days- no problems at all , not even a bulb , Pyrenees were great sold that today http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...r/dirtpro6.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...r/dirtpro4.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...r/dirtpro7.jpg

But am now tempted by a Ducati Multistrada .........:happy8: - er yes I know , I know but with a bit of financial work it might be ok - ish .

So was considering selling the Tenere - havent put your spokes in yet though - my bike ownership is not the most stable I know :angry7:
Still think a "freshly made" ie "new" old Tenere might be a better long term (as if I'd know!) bet than the 2008+ Tenere as far as "bush repairs" etc are concerned .Old Tenere is much easier to wheel around etc ( or maybe just not so worried about dropping it ?) but haven't put it on the scales yet. Xt660Z was 217kg on my scales - more than my old 750 Elefant.
Going to do some work on my Ten tomorrow - change fork oil etc and rear tyre/spokes and will make a decision afterwards - maybe !

Have you tracked a Tenere down yet Graham ?! - if not I think you'd be best off buying my old one at an advantageous rate and then spending half the cost of a new Ten at Dave Lambeth getting it prepped !

Will let you know where things head next !

cheers

Bloody hell Ian youve now got the Multi strada....

Just how many bikes have you owned... This year? It must be like a chop shop round your house!

Actually I have looked at the Multistrada but not a bike I'd green-lane. probably going to end up getting 3200ish for my bike (2400 depreciation in 29000 miles and 3 years)
But I have no idea where to put that cash at the moment.

Looking at all the New Teneres being brought and quickly sold on it would appear that it is a very specific bike to live with. I am holding out until August when I will be in the right place to buy, but we'll see.

Cheers and PMing you as well.

A brake snake is when you stamp on the rear brake and the bike fishtails out of control down the road...

...no, really it is a little loop of wire that runs between the frame rail (typically) and the brake pedal, primarily to stop debris jamming between the pedal and engine, but also to stop it bending outwards and/or into a banana in the event of a crash...

You're spot on - the Tenere is very specific to live with, its definately a love/hate thing with the big Yam and i don't think many bikers would entertain one for too long if they've been used to big Jap inline 4's for example..

Its a bit unusual ( to quote TJ) but not at all sure if the Tenere is a genuine "do it all" bike or a very particular "niche" bike - ie it can fit a lot of different roles but none of them particularily well but maybe as a bike for a Morocco trip etc it might be better than anything else available ?:eusa_whistle:

Yes, it certainly seems to be a bit of a 'jack of all trades' and at least when the roads get a bit 'third world' it won't spell the end of the tour.
I'd love to see a 'long way round' thing done on the Tenere to see how it fares.
The XT660R certainly stood up very well on the Himalaya thing which Bike magazine wrote about way back..

Hi Guy's.

You just need to ask JMo about the capabilities of the Tenere.

Can't wait to read all about her adventure's in TBM Magazine later in the year.

Bless you Gary... mind you, America was just the beginning... it is now my intention to prove the new Tenere is every bit the Dakar bike it's predecessors were (well, ok, maybe not actually win, but you know what I mean...)
