hi, using mitas e07 at the moment on a 130,does anybody use a 140 and if so
do they have the wear indicators on them.my 130 is down to the wear indicators and the center of the tyre is like a slick.

The central wear strip seems to come and go on the "130" EO7. I have had some with, and some without it...

Hearing rumours the EO7 will be in short supply for a while, as Mitas develop a tubeless version.

Just a heads up, if you intend fitting a "140" EO7 to the standard Tenere rim. It is an absolute pig to get to "bead-up", and consequently very difficult to perform trail side repairs in the event of a puncture.

The last one I fitted, required copious amounts of spray on Canola Oil, heat, removal of the valve from the valve stem and 90PSI to get it onto the bead.

Once on, it is a great tyre, but I swore I would never fit another, preferring to stick with the "130" EO7 of switch to a Dunlop 606.

The Dunlop 606 is also a great tyre, but unfortunately has a very high rate of wear. I reckon I will be lucky to get 3500K out of the one I have fitted.

BTW...I have been using Canola Oil to mount my tyres for quite a while now. It is a natural product and does no harm to the tyre. It is very light and flashes off quickly. No need for concern about the tyre slipping on the rim, providing you don't ride on it, for say 24 hours. If anything, it creates a slight bond as it dries. (Some people prefer to proprietary tyre lube or window cleaner....).

I'd also advise against a 140 for the same reason. Having tried a few 140s of various brands and IMHO they seem to offer marginally less grip off-road, and tend to wear quicker on the centre line on the road, fall into corners and may actually give rise to a reduced contact patch (unless pressure is reduced to compensate) due to the fact they are pulled in at the bead making the tyre's cross section a bit more oval.



As you increase the the ratio of tyre width to rim width the distance between C and B increases; the tyre gets more pointed/oval in cross section. Width A will also not increase proportionally either. It is for this reason that, when actually fitted to the same rim, a 140 tyre will not appear a full 10mm wider than a 130.

A bit off topic, forgive me. Saw a beautifully restored WW2 BMW sidecar (complete with machine gun) yesterday and guess what? The tyres were Mitas 07s!

Well about the 130/80 Mitas E07...
I wanted to buy one, but impossible to find them... a vendor on ebay claimed to have them in stock but only delivered the front T63 from my order so far.. still waiting to hear from him but I'm now pretty sure he doesn't have them on hand.

Anyone recently purchased E07?
