xtx 2007, error code 33
Hello, i have problem with xtx 2007. Yesterday i have set idle to 1500 rpm, after that he cut out on sidestand, and won't start. I tried to put new fuel, new spark plug, and battery charged. But still nothing, and today i got error 33 on display. Can anyone tell me what i can do ?
SOLVED: it was wire of neutral gear sensor, when bike was on side stand, light was flashing, and cutting out engine. Last edited by JuTube; 16-03-16 at 10:46. |

Error code 33 is the primary, or low tension side of the ignition coil. First thing would be to check the connections at the coil for corrosion and good contact.
It is possible that there could be an internal fault in the LT side of the coil which would give the same end result. Either way suspect the coil and/or its wiring to be the issue for a 33 code. It is also worth noting that (as you say it happened on the sidestand) that the neutral light switch could be faulty? If the switch doesn't close (neutral light on), the bike will think it's in gear and cut the ignition. Does the neutral light work OK? Any flickering or temperamental behaviour? |

Yes it's flickering a little, what I can do in about that?

That'll be it then - there's a good chance it'll be the neutral switch that's causing you're non-starting woes.
First check the connector. Trace the wiring back from from the switch on the top of the left hand side of the crankcase/gearbox just above the line of the output shaft to the connector. Make sure everything is good, clean and making decent contact. Use a multimeter and check the operation of the switch - see if it opens/closes cleanly. Ultimately, neutral switches do wear out and the first symptom is flickering as the internal spring weakens. They are easy to replace (held by one bolt) and aren't too expensive. If it's not the wiring or connector (and the switch isn't loose on top of the casing), then the switch itself is probably at fault. With a start inhibit system like the XT has (clutch, side stand and neutral switch como), you can't afford any switching problems as the bike will end up a non-runner. |

Checked now Neutral and connections, everything good. And it lights, but still same **** won't start,

OK. At least that's ruled out the ignition cut out system (as long as you're sure the sidestand, clutch and neutral lights are all working as they should).
Now you need to turn your attention to the ignition and coil if it still showing error 33. Firstly, is the spark plug good? Is the battery producing 12.5-12.8V? Are all the fuses intact and seated correctly? Check the LT connections and wiring and the test the circuit. You can test the coil by going into the diagnostic mode and running code 30 which will generate 5 sparks. Either do this with the spark plug out and earth against the motor (be careful) or use a spark tester. Test the primary (LT) coil circuit's resistance. Connect a multimeter across the LT terminals on the coil. The correct resistance is 3.4-4.6 ohms. Test the secondary (HT) circuit's resistance. Connect the multimeter to the LT terminal where the red/black wire connects and to the conductor inside the HT lead (without the plug cap). The resistance should be 10.4 - 15.6 Kohms. Test the plug cap. Remove the cap and connect the multimeter between the the inside of the cap and the the HT lead entry point. The resistance should be 10 Kohms. If you don't find a fault here, then the next place to look at would be the crank position sensor. |

Solved it, it was neutral gear sensor, now working.
BTW. When I try to put idle speed on 1500 rpm, I see in diag mode that TPS is going up, from 17 18 to 19. How can I lower it when I set idle speed on 1500 rpm? |

Loosen the TPS and rotate it until the readings are within spec. With an idle of 1500 rpm the TPS wants to be reading 15-17 with a closed throttle (97-100 with throttle wide open).

Unfortunately it was not neutral indicator, bike turned off one day and didn't start anymore. Given him into a Yamaha service, and guy contacted, ignition coil failed (faulty). After changing it, no more pops from exhausts(Akrapovic) , low very very low surging, no cutting out in 350 km, and bike is going like hell
![]() I have checked diagnostic and have seen that TPS is now set at 16 (before was on 19) and CO is on 20 (before 11) Next is DNA stage 1 and 2, and O2 eliminator. |
