just messin

The EO7 has been a little disappointing 7.5 k kms, not to bad and to be truthfull i can't fathom out whats left with this middle band !!

And as i can't go out without doing some dirt i banged this old Karoo back on

Bit of differance and the Karoo has over 8 k kms on it !!

Took her for a bimble and i'd forgot how well the Karoo felt for a nobby !!

That was yesterday !!! chain kit arrived today !!! so back on the lift

Goodies 525/47/16 and a 15

Old 520 chain !!! only 7.5 k kms on that too !!!

Now we're talking

Getting the old front of was hard work !! tight as hell or just a good fit

New front 16 on and there's not much room with the case saver !!!

ohhh and some blood

Great little tip from Pleiades i think it was !!! stick the spacers in with locktite

Split link fitted ........i always use these , easy to work on out there !!!

Thankfully the front 16 dosen't catch

And the finnished job.............................no i'm not cleaning it

Went for a little run to seat it in and passed my local black smiths

Stopped in and asked if he could blank of one of the cans, not a problem and did it there and then ..............rough as arse holes but i love it

Looks ok but i'll probably make some sort of tool tube

Also from the day i bought the bike its seemed VERY LOUD !!!! so i tookthe DB killers out for a look

The two black ones are out of the XT cans and have been cut down by the previous owner , i had the one on the right for my DR can.

The bend was slightly wrong but i fixed that with a vice and a BIG HAMMER, thinking WTF

It worked and sounds the ******

Anyone know where i can get a cheap tool tube ?

Cheers Phil

Just fitted my 525 kit too - The whole thing just looks and feels more "up for it" than the standard 520. Time will tell of course...

Make one yourself out of solvent weld soil pipe.

Costs peanuts to make and it can be made as long or short as you like. You'll end up with something that's a much more useful size than the typical "operators manual" tool tube.

Yeh no worries Beany
The 525 is a heavier wider bigger chain therefore the sprockets are bigger/thicker too, not the best pic but the 520 is on the left and 525 is on the right, there's probably onlya couple of millinit but from experiance the 525 is a far superior set up and last longer !!

As Phil says, it’s basically a wider chain. The pitch and roller diameters are identical.

520 chain: Pitch = 15.875mm, roller diameter = 10.160mm, roller width = 6.350mm, sprocket thickness = 5.766mm

525 chain: Pitch = 15.875mm, roller diameter = 10.160mm, roller width = 7.938mm, sprocket thickness = 7.214mm

A 525 will last longer as the load will be spread over a wider area and less prone to lateral flexing. The minor down side of a wider chain is that it will cause slightly greater drivetrain power losses, but not so much as you'd notice on an the road, you might see a fraction of a horse power drop off on a dyno.
