The bend was slightly wrong but i fixed that with a vice and a BIG HAMMER, thinking WTF It worked and sounds the ****** https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-l...o/IMG_1773.JPG Anyone know where i can get a cheap tool tube ? Cheers Phil |
Just fitted my 525 kit too - The whole thing just looks and feels more "up for it" than the standard 520. Time will tell of course...

http://www.xt660.com/showpost.php?p=193891&postcount=23 Costs peanuts to make and it can be made as long or short as you like. You'll end up with something that's a much more useful size than the typical "operators manual" tool tube. |
Hi guys where did you get your 525 drive kits from im due a new set and would Luke too upgrade to 525
Cheers jon |

aup phil can you explain to thicko (me) the difference between 520 and 525
on ten as i,am due a new set as well. ta |
Yeh no worries Beany
The 525 is a heavier wider bigger chain therefore the sprockets are bigger/thicker too, not the best pic but the 520 is on the left and 525 is on the right, there's probably onlya couple of millinit but from experiance the 525 is a far superior set up and last longer !! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-t...o/IMG_1761.JPG |
As Phil says, it’s basically a wider chain. The pitch and roller diameters are identical.
520 chain: Pitch = 15.875mm, roller diameter = 10.160mm, roller width = 6.350mm, sprocket thickness = 5.766mm 525 chain: Pitch = 15.875mm, roller diameter = 10.160mm, roller width = 7.938mm, sprocket thickness = 7.214mm A 525 will last longer as the load will be spread over a wider area and less prone to lateral flexing. The minor down side of a wider chain is that it will cause slightly greater drivetrain power losses, but not so much as you'd notice on an the road, you might see a fraction of a horse power drop off on a dyno. |
Pleiades.............you're a star :clap:or is that a group ?
