What do you think ?
I'm off on a trip soon that will have a variety of different terrain:
Tarmac Dirt Mud Slate water crossings gravel grass (probably wet) I'm going for TKC's all round and wondered how good they are going to be in the wet mud and grass as that's where the majority of the best part of the trip will be covered. I have a got a virtually brand new Michelin AC-10 front in the garage and was considering putting that on the front with the new TKC on the rear. I'm not worried about killing the AC-10 on the trip so don't worry about that in your reply. It has to cover about 600 miles on tarmac and about 400 miles on the dirty slippery muddy gravely stony slatey stuff.... I want to be able to enjoy the dirty stuff and am not worried about taking a slow'ish pace getting where I am going on the tarmac section (probably happy to potter along at 65mph) so.... what do you reckon? bad idea or good idea... ![]() |

The AC10 & Shinko 700 or 704..
Apart from the mud & wet grass a shinko 705 would work fine..

A 1000 miles journey it not that long - TKC80 is often chosen by people that needs to get much further on the same tire. If you want a tire that gets you close to 10000miles on mixed surfaces a TKC80 and a calm right hand might get you close :-)
With 40% dirt stuff the priority i would choose a rougher tire. I have never ridden a AC 10 but would suggest something in the line of pirelli mt21, mitas e09 or Michelin t63

On my xtz750 a TKC80 lasts 50% longer than t63 - but that is not important for the OP here :-) But if i wants the most fun greenlaning something knobbier can still last the trip
