Aux Power Connection
Hi All, Does anyone know where I can purchase the correct plug to connect to the plug underneath the speedo and rev counter. It looks like a female connector that is required.
I would like to connect to the supply for a single 12v cigarette or USB connector to charge aux devices but I have read on this site that it is also the same point used for diagnostic purposes. I am therefore reluctant to cut of the existing plug and replace with something else. I also believe the supply is live on ignition rather than direct to the battery which suits me better. I have tried some site like autoelectricspares.co.uk but I cant identify the correct connector. Any pointers greatly appreciated. |

Thanks Phil, I agree with Pleiades, they do indeed seem like rocking horse sh1t. Think I will change the connector then with a more conventional type.
Thanks for your help. |

![]() ![]() If your running a AUX socket off it, just bare in mind that it is a side light circuit (so ive been told). total guess here... prob a 5amp circuit max?! |

A minor catch with using the dash connector is the it is also live when the key is in the "P" position (and you can take the key out too), leaving not only your sidelights on, but also anything plugged in to the socket as well. Result = flat battery. You've just got to be a little more cautious about making sure you don't turn the key too far when doing the steering lock. |

Thanks all. With postage from eastern beaver totaling $79.50 to the UK this makes my order for an item of $1.59, $81.09. I would like to not have to alter the connector type, but this cost seems marginally prohibitive! I will try to find them in the UK, if not I will do the chop and replace with something more readily available.
I purchased an inline fuse holder and switch so I can overcome the problems highlighted by Pleiades. Thanks alot for the help. |

I cut the original yamaha one off and fitted something like this 15a rating for my sat nav.
They came in a pack of 5 in black on e-bay for 2.70 including postage. ![]()

I wonder if the
Touratech connector is a good alternative to other custom connectors. I'm not really an electric expert and need something simple.
