The sidelight circuit is fused at 10A, but you should really run a separate inline fuse to the auxilliary socket (or better still use it to trigger a relay), so if it, or the accessory plugged into it fails you don't lose your lighting, particularly your tail light.

A minor catch with using the dash connector is the it is also live when the key is in the "P" position (and you can take the key out too), leaving not only your sidelights on, but also anything plugged in to the socket as well. Result = flat battery. You've just got to be a little more cautious about making sure you don't turn the key too far when doing the steering lock.
