Mitas E09 / Metzeler Unicross.

Sweet tyre, hard wearing and cool on tarmac, cool on trails. Excallent all rounder. Front at the moment is a Metzeler Unicross which is surprisingly good on tarmac and amazing on trails, like almost knee down grip on the loose. Good combo.Should get decent miles from the Mitas. Wet tarmac ? SLOW DOWN.

I got a Mitas E-08 on my old XT 250, and I rode around 15.000km with the rear tyre, and I think the tire would got around 25.000km.
But is a tyre for paved roads, in gravel you cant find good control.

I will try to test the E-09, because we dont have TKC around here, no Kenda, nothing more off road tires...

Hi

You say to slow down on wet tarmac, is that because of the front....or the rear...or the combo? Never really heard much about the unicross, how does it cope in mud?

Went to a tyre dealer here in South Oz today to ask about the Unicross and they'd never heard of it. It's not on the Metzeler (Aus) website. are they a recent release? I'm going to try and get one, I can't stand the yellow line around the Dakars..

Metzeler Unicross is brilliant in muddy terrain and very good on dry tar. Slow down on wet tarmac means yer ridin knobblies. Mitas E09 is very good and stable on tar and dry trails is a breeze. Not had the chance to try wet mud but gotta be better than TKC 80 for self cleaning and wear.

Limited choices over here in Oz. Couldn't get a Unicross or a Michelin HP4 so ended up with Dunlop 908RR. Will go for a spin in a couple of days and see what I think.

Mitas E09 is the dogs thingys. Hard compound so good life. Good grip in the soft terrain and cleans well. Good on dry tar. Will get 3000 miles of hard use. Gonna get another one.

I'm trying to decide what to try for this winter. Whether to stick E09s on again or go for some of the Sava tyres. Or Heidenaus.
