T63 Dual Sport Tyres
To allow the info to be more easily found I've collected my T63 info here
To get a bit of diversity in the tyres used I thought I try the michelin T63s from the pics posted I think the michs have bigger blocks on the rear though front maybe similar, some rough pics attached ![]() Fitted pics ![]() ![]() Tread depth is ~11mm rear and ~6.5mm front which compares to Pirrelli Scorpion enduro front of ~11mm (used) and Michi AC10 Rear of ~15mm (used). |

Where did you get em and how much? Did you fit em yourself?

Mytyres.co.uk (prices seems dependant on stock/availability so you'll need to check) .
Yup fitted them myself (see I Haz thread in XT660z tyres section) but to sum up, very stiff carcase but it was subzero at the time, I pinch flatted the rear tube and the alloy rims mark very easily. I also had the assistance of my tyre/wheel stand ![]() |

How are those T63's doing? Will be looking at new tyres soon, not because my Sirac's are overly worn, but more that I have very little grip green laning. The temptation is always the TKC line but I rather like Michelin tyres and have learnt to trust them over the years. So I am doing the wise, but lazy, thing of learning from those around me. That said I know its a lot about personal preferences and riding locations and styles so won't hold anyone responsible if any advice sought and taken does not fit me.
Cheers.

Havent had much lane use out of them due to Ice. suspect they'll match TKCs lane wise and maybe have better mud capabilities due to wider knob spacing, that said I doubt they are a great gloopy tyre as the tread is dualsport biased not enduro . On road it feels slightly nervous at NSL but its not slapped on me yet (very bumpy up/hill down dale road) and I'm not confident in their on road cornering/braking but I havent seen temps break 5deg C yet so no suprise there.

Cheers for that. All good info. With the road surface temps that are prevalent at the moment the compound will be working hard to find grip on any knobbly I reckon.

Hi Dicky, i have the T63 mounted mid of last year and drove round about 5000km with them on. Even a lot of onroad, they still look good, i think another 5kkm could be possible.
I replaced the Tourance because of having a bit more grip when streets are ending. Furthermore I want a tyre i can rely on when its wet. Well, still being very carefull when its wet but i also think i'm much faster in curves than ever ![]() For me the T63 gets a ++. The only (kind of) minus is the noise they produce. One will hear you coming! Next I will try the Heidenau K60 because there will be a 12kkm tour this year - mostly on asphalt. The T63 likes it more offroad. The TKC I hardly try - the mainstream does that for me... Last edited by ernibert; 07-02-10 at 18:09. Reason: added "kind of" |

Managed to get some trail use on these and I can say at 28psi they are not a mud or slimy conditions tyre. Had some buttock clenching front end pushes and some back end slides when moderate with the throttle trying to get out of even slight ruts. Dont now how much better they'd be aired down. For slow plodding they are obviously better than siracs but soft wet mud has the front tested quite early, one patch i hit required a dab to save a front end washout ... That said the suspension soon shows its limits early if trying to press on on stock soft settings, bottoming out forks and shock without much provocation, so that seems to match the tyres limits in the wet mud .
On road they have more grip than seems wise, but its not been much better than damp or around 5~0 deg c so I havent spanked them but no slides or puckering ringer during my road use up to NSL or thereabouts. Good road occassional trail use (easy) but if planning on a rally then maybe best saved for dryer conditions. PS my offroad bike skills arent owt beyond rank amatuer if that but used to be handy on my mtb (before fat middle age took hold). |
