OEM Pannier Brackets

One of the rubber mounts on the lower pannier brackets has parted company with the bike. Yamaha UK have stated that I can't order the rubber parts separately and are asking over 90 for a full mounting kit!!

Has anyone found an alternative part for the rubber or have managed to make their own?

Cheers,

Al.

They are BSing you, I got them replaced. Yamaha Sweden told me the same but after some chat I got the mounts sent to me. It's the same mounts as to the FJR if I remember correctly.

Yamaha UK are talking crap.

I had the same problem about 3 months after purchasing the panniers, and managed to get them replaced on warrenty as they shouldn't just 'fall off'

You most certainly can get just the rubbers, albeit in pairs.

Thanks for this info, went into my local dealer Today after hearing the same BS last service, gave the part number and asked for it to be done under warranty. Also mentioned my pannier locks and crankcase breather, not had trouble with them but if an upgrade is available under warranty my guess is to have it done. Will see how it goes....

Probably worth super-gluing them on in future?

As a thought, what about gluing them into the pannier receiver hole, rather than onto the metal bracket - that way they should never fall off/get kicked off?

Kept kicking myself after they had come off, why didn't I just glue em on like it said to! You would think for the money tho they would just put some glue in with the kit? wont happen again, inside the pannier seems like a top idea thanks J
