used the same combo on a XTR for a few months. the TKC will wear out long before the E07 will, road wise the combo works very well, off road it can still handle moderate routes. Only swapped it out as I wanted a more dirt focused setup.

tkc80
hi I use tkc 80 front, heidenau k60 scout rear . I found fitting the tkc80 on the front changed the handling significantly in a good way particularly off road, they hold a straight line better on gravel etc. They did at first feel very strange at very low speeds on roundabouts on tarmac but you soon get used to it. my front tkc80 has now done 6500 miles and still has plenty of tread left the rear scout has done 5500 miles and I estimate has about another 2000 miles life left. Make sure you bounce the forks up and down before you tighten the front axel pinch bolts it seem to help the fork alignment.

Also got my bike at 2600km with TKC80 front and Heidenhau k60 rear. The Heide was worn down so I replaced it with an E-07. That lasted almost 4000km and then the front TKC was also done. I then put on a Pirelli MT90 at the back and a Dunlop D606 in front. Both for less than the price of one front TKC. I'm on almost 9000km now and both are holding up well. The bike handles very well on tar and well enough on dirt. The front TKC80, Dunlop D606 and Pirelli MT21 are very similar but in South Africa one can buy the Dunlop and Pirelli for less than half the price of the TKC.

Currently researching a replacement front tyre.
My TKC80 is on its last legs, with some severely scalloped knobs, Not sure how far many miles its done, but has outlasted a Mitas E10 Dakar rear and the previous tyre, a Golden Tyre Gt200. After my experience with the Michelin T63 scalloping so much worse than the TKC80 I won't go back to them. Currently running a Dunlop D606 rear, which I am loving on a Price vs off road pick up, and its done 3,800kms with quite a bit more to go. I can see it starting to square off, from all the motorway miles, but its grip on gravel roads make it worthwhile. I should go to about 5,000km I have noticed the reduction in tarmac grip on the rear, when emergency braking so am trying to ride more carefully. Anyone care to share their experience with the D606 front? For me I want a decent road legal tyre that will perform on the west coast Northern Cape dirt. Ive had a Hidenau Catspaw in the past (I think now called the K60), similar tread to a Mefo 99 and Mitas E07 and I had a strong overriding fear of putting that back on the front. |

My front D606 has been excellent off-road and very well behaved on tarmac. I can lean the bike flat with confidence on dry tarmac. No problems on wet tar also. Price excellent.
Also consider similar Pirelli MT21 but I don't have personal experience with them.

I have run the Dunlop 606 on the front & rear, both have been good on & off road + good milage. The Heidi scout was a ***** to fit & glad I never had a flat to repair in the bush.

But for long street-rides and travels i prefer the Michelin Anakee 3.....it's much more comfortable and the tires hold much longer than the T63's on street.

I just stick with Shenko 700s front/rear...
on my 3rd front & 4 rear.. Have no idea how long the last... I change them at a little over half worn.. get the pressures right & they hook up on most surfaces... ..
