Tank side protection
Went out for my first real offroad session this weekend and came back with a badly scratched tank! No falls or anything, just the inside of my legs rubbing against the sides of the tank. A few hundred small scratches and quite a few big ones that wouldn't come off after a round of cleaning/polishing.
I can't be the only one bothered about the scratching (or..?) so what have you guys done to protect it? I came across THIS which looked quite smart? Has anyone put anything like that one the side of their tank? Oh, and a few pics |

I've not had this problem myself but have you considered using helicopter tape for tank protection?

Hein Gericke do a self adhesive clear plastic sheet, Stoic has it on his tank and it works very well indeed. It will hide some of the small scratches and protect for any more.
Duck Tape is a good temporary solution - I've used this myself....

ive made a bit of a mess of my tank ..to late to bother now
but the klr was showing signs of the same problem .. i managed to polish it up ok but it was going to go the same way as the tenere i used some carbon sheeting and applied it with a heat gun ... i must admit it looks ok ... but whether it stays that way is another question ..but it should protect the paint .. wish id done it on the tenere now but ..hindsight blah blah By minkyhead at 2011-10-24 |
