Would it be an idea to take the can off and bash the flange bits slightly so they close, or does anyone have an alternative solution?
I'd put a short 'slit' along the pipe with a hacksaw (thin blade) if there isn't one there already or just a line of high temp silicon around and clamp onto it. Make sure the slit is less than the pipe overlap.
