I have a something similar to a pelicase and on my XT600 used a variety of ways to mount it onto the rear rack but was never totally satisfied. I am now considering cutting off the bottom of an XT topbox and Gluing it onto my case with 5200... (When I get an Xt660z)

On the tent side In favour of Hard panniers is the Hammock tent system. (you dont have to secret your bags inside the tent)
