Translation of the Greek article about the "Turbo XTX"
WHITE TORNADO
Something passed you but you weren’t that fast to see what it was!
A white supermotard “sneezing” weird. Like it was….Good Lord!!! Like it was turbo charged!!!
As far as they avoided a brain-stroke (but not a headache) they managed a few days later to set up the ECU and the XT was ready for a Test ride! At a pressure of 1.1 bar, the turbo XT reached almost 75hp quickly and easily.
Next step was to modify a bit the clutch housing to handle safely the –almost double power- that it had been initially designed for.
The first tests showed that the brakes were in need or being stronger to stop the bike safely, so a bigger Brembo pump and a two-piston break caliper were fitted.
The Termignoni Cans were modified to let the fumes out even faster and easier and the sprocket ratio changed to make the gears “longer”.
At every throttle action the rear wheel responds with smooth and easily handled rolling burnouts. When the throttle is released the turbo “sneezes” and the nearby riders just can’t believe what they are listening to!
By the time you think that the power is over… the XT continues sending more horses to push the bike, while the rider’s heart is pumping hard in his veins!
A Blast of power and adrenaline from a single cylinder Supermotard.
THE BIKE RUNS PERFECTLY, and in spite of the turbo charger, it still is Jim’s every-day transportation vehicle. Today, 2000 Km after the project was done, it continues running perfectly, proving that such a difficult mission was successful!
The first single-cylinder turbo-charged bike is a fact!
