Stumac i think it all comes down to personal opinions, like what type of camping your doing, how much space you have, how much you wanna spend on a tent, if you and the mrs like to get alittle close in the tent

. Going to scotland in summer is nice ive been there before but only stayed in B&B and we where lucky as we only got wet on the last day coming home (heat wave). But i think making sure you tent is water proof and you have warm enough sleeping bags and gear you's should be ok what ever tent you choose.
But if everything goes pear shaped you could just pitch the tent and then go and stay in a B&B and not tell anyone
