There are a few bikes that use a 21x1.85 36 hole front rim.
KTM 950 Super Enduro
KTM 690 Enduro
Honda Africa Twin (earlier versions)
Honda Transalp
However, the main problem is that they are not drilled at the correct angles to suit the XT660 hubs lacing pattern.
I cracked my front rim a few years back and found that an early Honda Africa Twin front rim was nearly the same as the tenere. I Think it was from late 80's / early 90's? So I fitted this as I needed the bike quickly. It was not 100% perfect as there was a very slight bend (and I mean, very slight!) in the spokes as the rim holes were not quite the right angle. But it was close enough and I intended to replace it but left it on the bike until recently and had no problems for about 3 years.
I have finally stumped up the cash for a brand new front rim with the correct drilled angle and stainless spokes. At the same time, I have just gone for an 18" rim on the rear.
Personally I'd go for a brand new rim. Second hand rims can have dents and corrosion. I got lucky as I knew the old Africa Twin rim was in good condition.
