Sorry, missed that part!
Personally if I'm only going to change one tyre then I replace it with the matching tyre of the one that's staying on the bike - so if I currently have PR3s then the worn tyre will be replaced with another PR3.
Also new tube to suit the tyre size. I use
these for the XTX fronts.
