So the XTR just let me down for the first time, currently on the road side awaiting some help so need some ideas what's happened.

Pulled away got a few hundred meters and the bike cut out, eventually got it running in neutral, put it in gear clutch in and side stand up, engine dips then dies and won't restart until in neutral again.

Is it the side stand switch? That's where my money is right now.
